[Discontinued] Light of a New Beginning (Destiny x RWBY)

The Winter Cabin

     The cabin was snuggly tucked into the woods, placed neatly in the center of the man-made clearing. Frozen winds pushed and shoved us as we approached the house.  The man cursed, muttering something about how the snow was out of season. We quickly pushed into the cabin, one-by-one through the door and into the foyer. The group gave a tiny shake as we adjusted to the temperature in the house. Winds berated the door and windows as if warning the strangers to be cautious of the newly arrived warriors.

     I rhythmically tapped my finger on the wooden table,  making eye contact with the man.

"Soo... the blonde girl hummed, eyes moving from Selina to Leo. " I'm Yang, Yang Xiao Long " gesturing to herself with her thumb.

"Tiayang" the man gruffly stated, now eyeing Wolf as he stood behind my chair at the table.

     I glanced up at the titan's helmet, silver armor with the bright purple accents which weakly glowed in the bright kitchen. Realizing that we all still had our helmets on I moved to remove mine but stopped as the girl enshrouded in red hopped up a bit to introduce herself.

"And I'm Ruby Rose! " The girl declared proudly, as if the act was one to be rewarded.

     I gave a slight chuckle at the redundancy of her name, and the child-like attitude she displayed. Shorter then her companions, she looked to be the youngest.

"Well..." I breathed, " As I said earlier, I am Cara Melly."

    The rest of the team proceeded to introduce themselves after I had, I removed my helmet as Leo-3 closed out our side of intros. Dark navy curls slipped out, sending a shiver down my back as the tickled my neck. The fireteam followed my actions, I looked into the 3 pairs of shocked eyes as they assessed the rest of my team. Leo's mechanical  eyes whirled as they inspected the trio then glanced back to me, I shrugged. Turing back to the group in disbelief at the robotic man.

" Uhhh... " the Yang girl started, her mouth open in surprise. The other yang cleared his throat elbowing the younger-looking one in the ribs.

"If you don't mind a couple questions" Wolf interrupted, his low gruff voice suited his class. The awoken man clearly trying to move on from the unpleasant staring, and drawn out disbelieve.

"Sure thing, as long as you guys are willing to explain a few things as well"   Tiayang put emphasis on the word glancing at the exo.

     Wolf looked down at me for approval, I observed the reaction of the hunter pair. Both deemed it okay. Leo giving a small shrug, while Selina gave a subtle nod clear from the  bounce the hood on her head did. Despite the removal of her helmet she still wore the Crystocene hood. Silence hung in the air as the team gave me their approval. I shifted my crossed legs, slightly knocking the cursed thrall head attached to my hip. I looked up at the blond man, nodding giving our consent to the deal.

" Where are you from and why are you here?" Tiayang asked immediately.

"What are you guys?" Yang questioned, obviously addressing the awoken and exo.

"And why didn't you know that you were on Remnant?" Ruby added, inspecting us with her eyes.

     I faced Tiayang, and explained the situation at hand, a quick summery of the portal and our task to survey the cause. The example of Nessus sticking in the back of my mind as a possible fate for this planet.

"Exo" I stated pointing at Leo "just a human mind in a mechanical body"

"Meaning that the other two must be Faunus then." Yang said nodding.

"Faunus?" I asked, furrowing my brow at the word, "No, their awoken, think of it as a person who is also the perfect mixture of light and dark. Their blue skin is a telling sign"

"What are Faunus?" Selina questioned. The light tracing on her skin sharply moved across her face at the query.

"The are a sperate race from humans who posses an animal trait, such as dog ears, or bat wings. Though some are more rare then others." Ti explained. 

"We are Guardians,"  I continued "Born of the light, who fight to defend it and the people around us." 

"Sort of like huntsmen then" mumbled Ruby. After seeing our confused look, she gave a quick explanation of the occupation. To which I nodded, confirming her statement.

 " As for our questions, " Wolf added, shooting a wary look at Ti.

" Firstly, do you have some authority figure you can arrange us to meet, this is a threat to the entire planet if not kept in check. We are here to find out their goal, and neutralize this threat. " I carefully explained, slightly cringing at "how take-me-to-your-leader!" I sounded. 

" I'll see what I can do" Tiayang replied, shifting his weight on the counter he was leaning on.

     After a couple hours of trading questions about out our respective worlds, Ruby started leaning on Yang with a yawn, signaling the end of our discussion that night. Ti handed us a couple of pillows and blankets, apologizing for not having any extra beds. We told him it was fine as we carried sleeping bags as a precaution. I kicked off my shoes and crawled into the reflective gold sleeping bag I had nabbed exploring the moon, turning to see the rest of my team crawl into the standard issued vanguard ones.

     As the winds howled outside, Leo chatted to Wolf about a story he heard in a bar, while Selina muttered something about how he needed to shut up and go to sleep or get a throwing knife in his chest. As told the team settled down I slowly closed my eyes, listening to the slowed breathing of my teammates and the small creaks of the wooden boards above us,  allowing my thought to drift. Lulling myself into a peaceful sleep.

Hello , Hello!  Sorry for taking so long to put this chapter out, so much has been going  on. I also have a lot of stuff that is coming up too. So this is a heads up that the next chapter is going to take a while to come out.  I would also like to know if you guys are interested in me making a sperate book on the mini adventures of our guardian friends. Nothing too long, just a couple of small stories which won't really affect me uploading chapters here.
