"Avi... do you want to marry me?"
"I... yes."
Avi, of course, knew that the proposal would be coming sooner than later, not only because Scott had been very weird about organising this date night, but also because his favourite rings had gone missing one day. Scott had tried to mask it by saying he found the ring in the bedroom but Avi knew that it was a white lie. At least he knew what was coming and wasn't too overwhelmed when Scott dropped down on one knee during their picnic at sunset on the cliffs.
"And... what do you think?" Scott asked later when they were lying on the blanket and Avi was looking at the ring on his finger.
"About what?" Avi asked.
Scott chuckled. "Being engaged? The ring?"
Avi looked up at the blonde and smiled. "I mean it's not like I haven't expected this to happen at some point, but... it feels good. And the ring is so beautiful. The wood is so nice and warm. Thank you, Scott. I really appreciate it." Avi pressed a soft kiss onto his boyfriend's forehead and snuggled up to his side.
"Are you happy, Love?"
"I am. I just thought that it would feel different? Like... all the time it had felt huge to me. Being engage seemed to be a big step, but now that I am engaged to you it feels... normal? Not bad definitely not bad, but..."
Scott silenced his now fiancé with a kiss. "Nothing has changed, besides the fact that we are now wearing these rings and have our wedding to plan," he said jokingly.
Avi chuckled softly. "That's true," he said and eyed his ring once more. He really loved how it felt on his finger. "Where are we going to get married?"
"Wherever we can find a beautiful spot? I mean our families will have to travel either way, so... we're rather free? And we don't really need to budget? Like maybe we shouldn't rent out Disneyland, but a nice place somewhere between here and Visalia?"
"I would love to get married in nature? Woods would be nice. Maybe in fall? Just imagine the colours..." Avi mused. He wasn't too keen on planning the wedding, but he knew that it was important to Scott and he would support him.
"Mmhm or near the sea? The options are endless... but we'll find a place with a good wedding planner." Scott smiled. "Are you going to have a best man or a maid of honour?"
"Maid of honour. I want to ask Esther. I had the honour of being her best man and I want to return the favour" Avi said. "And you? Oh, wait I don't have to ask."
Scott chuckled. "No, you don't. When I mentioned the proposal to Mitch he was already stressed out about what he has to do as a best man" he explained. "Of course, it's going to be Mitchy."
"Mmhm..." Avi said. He grabbed two grapes, held one out to Scott and took one himself. "But wedding planning can wait, let's just enjoy this evening, Love."
Scott smiled. "Of course... there will be more than enough time to plan. I'm just so excited about the wedding."
"Of course," Avi said softly. "And I am excited, too. A little nervous, but looking forward."
Scott furrowed his brows. "There's no need to be nervous, Avi. Nothing will change, except for your surname or mine or both. We've been together for so long, getting married is only the final step on a road of memories we'll make together." He pressed a soft kiss onto his forehead.
Avi smiled. "I know. It just seems like a lot right now. But I want it, Love. Want to be your husband!"
Scott chuckled. "Good. I was actually scared for a moment."
