To say that Avi was nervous was an understatement. He was sitting in the café with a glass of water in front of him. He didn't want to order nothing but thought it was rude to order himself a cup of coffee while he was still waiting, especially because he was half an hour too early.

He sighed to himself and even thought about picking up the book that was lying on the table in plain sight: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Askaban. It was his favourite of the series. He knew that whoever would walk through the door would also carry a book of the series. He thought it was silly, but Kirstie had convinced him:

"Come on, Avi, you need something to match. And if you use the books, you'll have something to talk about."

Avi sighed. He was looking at himself in the mirror and redid his bun once again. "Why can't you just show me a picture and Mitch shows a picture and boom, we know who we are. This is so annoying."

"Oh Avi, where is the fun?"

"Fun? You told me basically nothing. Not even if it's a man or a woman" Avi returned and straightened the collar of his shirt. "Urgh, I hate this shirt." He took it off and turned to his friend who was standing in front of his closet. "Are you going to tell me what to wear, too?"

The smaller woman turned around and glared at him. "You won't make it in time if I don't" she commented and then handed him another shirt.

She had been right. He was comfortable in the green, flowery shirt and kind of glad to have a connection through the Harry Potter book. He himself wasn't a Potterhead per sé but he loved the books and if whoever his date was liked the books as well, they might be able to hold a conversation.

His eyes were fixated on the door of the café. Since he knew nothing about his date he scanned every person who came in, thought about whether he wanted or didn't want them to pull out the book. Then he saw the book. It sprung into his eyes immediately, even before he noticed the one carrying it. Then he looked up and almost choked on his own spit.

Apparently, his date was a man, tall, broad and blonde. He wore a neat beard, tight-fitting dark blue jeans and a white button-up with a blue flowery print. He looked handsome and... way out of his league.

Still, Avi noticed that the man looked nervous, too. He was scanning the café, probably looking for the book that was lying in front of him. Avi took a deep breath and then held the book up slightly.

It took a few seconds, but then the blonde's eyes lit up and he came up to Avi's table. "Hi, umm... are you Kirstie's friend?"

Avi nodded. The situation was awkward, but he knew that the blonde probably felt the same. "Yeah, you're Mitch's friend, right?"

The blonde nodded and sat down opposite Avi. "Yes," he said and chuckled. "I'm Scott. Probably easier with names."

"I'm Avi, it's nice to meet you, Scott" the bearded man replied and smiled.

"Avi, that's an unusual name" Scott commented. "But I like it."

Avi smiled slightly. "Thank you. It's short for Avriel, but everyone always calls me Avi, Avriel sounds so..."

"Wise and sophisticated?" Scott chimed in.

"I'd say old, but yeah" Avi replied and scratched the back of his head. "Thank you for the compliment." He wanted to add something, but didn't know what to say and was glad that at this moment the waitress came to their table.

"Hi, what can I get for you?"

Since the waitress looked at him, Avi ordered his iced tea (black, no sugar with a hint of lemon) first.
