MARISSA AND DEAN STAYED BEHIND MEANWHILE Sam and Lily checked out the dead bodies. Dean sat down and had his feet up on the table as he read the case files. Marissa, on the other hand, was buried deep in her thoughts. She thought of the events that happened in the last three weeks, following Jo and Ellen's death. She found it more difficult to focus on cases, and recently Lily had to keep a close eye on her, worried she might do something she regretted.
The first week was the hardest for her. Sam and Dean busied themselves with a case a hunter had tossed their way. It was their way of getting their minds off of things, while Marissa was preoccupied mourning the loss of two very important people in her life. She drank too much. The alcohol was her escape from the more than dreadful and heartbreaking reality she was living. It numbed her pain, but that had only lasted so long. Marissa knew that Jo and Ellen would have wanted her to move forward and never give up. Following her denial, she channeled her anger into finding a way to bring them back.
It was not until a case involving a teenage warlock did she consider the possibility of practicing black magic herself. She read up on the lore that had to deal with the angles of black magic that she had never taken the time to learn before. She weighed the consequences that would follow and decided that she did not care for them. She would deal with them in the aftermath. She would sacrifice everything if it meant that she could hold Jo in her arms again. She deeply regretted how long it had taken her to acknowledge her feelings for the younger hunter. She desired nothing more than to have had more time with her. If she did, she would make sure Jo knew exactly how she felt about her. She wished she could push her hair back behind her ear and whisper professions of love in her ear. And she missed those lips more than she missed anything in her life.
The door opened, interrupting her thoughts. Her gaze shifted to the two younger hunters that walked through, carrying bags of fast food. "How'd it go?" Dean asked them. Lily looked up from the Diet Coke she was sipping on as she walked through the door. Lily's eyes landed on the eldest hunter before they shifted to her sister. She knew better than anyone how Ellen and Jo's death was still crippling her. Marissa found it very difficult to move on from that loss. She was still in denial, wondering if there was anything she could do to bring Ellen and Jo back. She spent the better part of the last three weeks, following the tragedy, searching for a way to make that possible.
