AFTER MARISSA LEFT, BOTH SAM AND Lily were expecting Dean to leave for the night as well. There were no more leads for the night, and recently with the stress of the apocalypse, Dean had been going out more often. Although, instead of going out to the bar with his usual intent to pick up women, he decided to stay. It was rather unusual for him and both Sam and Lily knew there was something up with him, although they did not mention anything. Later that night, the three hunters got a call from the morgue, informing them that more bodies turned up. After nearly a day on the case, each of the hunters had difficulty trying to piece together why one town had so many double suicides; it made no sense to them.

The three hunters were sitting by the table at the center of the morgue, studying the organs of what was left of the victims, when Sam discovered Enochian marks on their hearts. Castiel had arrived shortly after Dean called him to inform him of the situation they had. Dean usually been the one to call and inform the angel when there was a situation. It appeared that the angel felt a closer bond with the eldest hunter.

Castiel examined the hearts. The three clueless hunters sat there in silence, patiently waiting for the angel to explain the meaning behind the marking on the victims' hearts. "You're right, Sam. These are angelic marks. I imagine you'll find similar marks on the other couples' hearts as well―" Castiel said disappointingly, as he picked up one of the hearts, to examine closely.

"So, what do they mean?" Lily asked, waiting for an answer as her hands rested against the table, opposite of Cass.

"It's a mark of union. This man and woman were intended to mate." Castiel answered, his tone still saddened, as he placed the heart back into the container.

"Okay, but who put them there?" Dean asked, turning his head to look at the trench-coated angel, waiting for his response.

"Well, your people call them 'Cupid.'" Castiel informed them as he too rested his hands on the table and looked away, clearly upset by the recent discovery.
