It was quite a while before you saw the pro-hero again. It's not like you knew is name so you couldn't actively seek him out, and you didn't want to seem like some overly obsessed adoring fan girl so you left it. You'd said thank you to him when he was there so you were more than sure that he wasn't expecting any repayment from you. You assumed the day would go exactly the same as any other when you got up that morning. It was a Saturday so you let Amai sleep in longer while you got the shop ready for the first wave of breakfast customers. There was very little cleaning to be done due to the fact that last night was your deep cleaning night. You instinctively plastered on the biggest smile you could muster as you heard the bell above the door chime. The breakfast rush had begun.
The day had felt longer than most. It's not that you had more customers than usual, you actually had less. The problem was Amai. She was in one of those weird moods where she talked non-stop to absolutely everyone. And by talked you meant shouted. She just constantly jabbered away to anyone who came over to pay for their meal. They found it endearing but you knew she was doing it because you let her sleep in. She had a ton more energy now and she was going to use it to annoy the living shit out of you. You let out a sigh of relief as the final customer left the store. Your day wasn't over yet though. You had to somehow keep Amai occupied while you cleaned up the traces of the customers. She was currently sat on the floor of the café playing with some race cars her tutor had bought her for Christmas last year. You hoped that this would help her to stay out of your way while you cleaned.
You got a solid 10 minutes of cleaning in before the reign of toddler terror began. You were wiping the tables when you felt something tug on your apron. You looked down to see your cute-as-a-button, 5-year-old daughter staring back up at you. "Mamma, I'm bored, play with me?" You closed your eyes for a second, taking a hopefully calming breath before crouching down to her height. "I'm really sorry sweetie, but I'm really busy right now. I've gotta clean up all this mess from the customers. I can play with you in about 30 minutes. Okay?" You almost laugh at the absolutely enraged scowl that comes onto her face. "No, I wanna play now. Clean later." You let out a soft sigh before standing back up. "The sooner I get this done the sooner I can play, alright? I'll go as fast as I can." You almost flinched at the shrill scream she let out as she started crying. Amai is a child who very very rarely cries. She doesn't cry when she trips, she does cry if she stubs her toe, she didn't even cry when her pet fish Morris died. But she was very quick to start crying when you told her no. Overall she was a very polite, well mannered girl, but she was still a child. You couldn't expect her to be perfectly well behaved all of the time. You let out another, deeper sigh. "You know that crying isn't going to get you what you want. I don't know how many times I've told you." She didn't stop. It was as if she'd not heard what you'd said. If anything she just cried louder. You held your head as the first inklings of a headache began to throb inside your skull. You were about to give in.
"Those tears don't suit your face at all."
You spun around to see the familiar red and white hair of the hero that had come in the other day. Your eyes widened when you realised the crying had been replaced by quiet sniffles. She had stopped crying the instant he came in. You mentally thanked the gods for his arrival. "I'm really sorry, sir, but we're closed right now. I can't really do anything for you." He shook his head and took a step inside you shop. "No, it's fine. I just came to see if you were okay. I know the intruder ended up on the news so I came to check that business hadn't fallen or anything. But it looks like you might need some help again." A small chuckle left his lips that were turned up into a subtle smile. His smile suited his face really well. You hoped that he smiled more outside of his hero work. You look from Amai to the hero. "Wait, you don't mean that you'd look after her for me? I couldn't ask a pro-hero to babysit my five year old." He came over and crouched by Amai, smiling softly at her before looking up at you. "Well then, it's good that I don't remember you asking me then." He turned back to Amai who beamed brightly at him before leading him into the part of the café where you two lived to play with her race cars. You breathed a sigh of relief to finally be able to clean in peace.
