Louis looked at himself in the mirror with nervous eyes. His outfit for that day was casual, just some blue light washed skinnies and a white Armani T-shirt that he chose to pair with some black TOMS. His nervousness confused him. 'It's just the boys.' He told himself.
It was year 2025, five years after One Direction had officially announced their final split. The boys had gone on a world tour for Made In The AM before announcing the news to the fans. The boys had separately released several albums in the past years, many of them reaching milestones they didn't cross as a band. Five years after they broke up, Niall contacted the boys, suggesting a dinner. To catch up with everyone's life. The boys had agreed and decided to meet at Gordon Ramsay's restaurant for dinner. Two months back, when this plan first materialized, Louis awaited it. Now as he waited for his car to go to the restaurant, his anxiousness of the situation started to show. All things that could possible go wrong crossed Louis' mind. He had not spoken to any of the boys for the last four years, all of them keeping in touch the first year of the split before drifting apart and finding other friends.
Out of all the boys, Louis had kept in touch with Liam the most, both of them having several calls over the years. Though Niall and Louis had not met each other in the last 4 years, they had a couple conversations over the phone. Harry was the one Louis had contacted the least since the split. Even though the pair had shared a couple texts over the years, neither of them attempted to meet up, not wanting to fuel the Larry rumours further. However, Louis knew that even though the boys had not conversed in a long time, they would still enjoy the evening.
A knock on Louis' hotel room door interrupted his raving thoughts and emotions. Upon opening the door, he saw Alex, his assistant twirling a set of keys in his hand with a bored expression on his face. Louis took a deep breath before muttering an almost inaudible, "Lets get this shit over with."
Half an hour later, Louis entered the restaurant, trying to locate the table reserved for the boys. He heard an Irish accent coming from the far end of the restaurant. Upon walking over there, he saw Niall and Liam already seated waiting for the last two of the band to arrive. Liam spotted Louis first, getting up to give the shorter one a big hug. "How have you been?" He asked, his voice laced with excitement. Louis just grinned, shrugging before walking over to Niall to envelope him in a hug. The three boys sat at the table, one seat still empty. "Have either of you talked to Harry since the split?" Liam asked, genuine curiosity in his eyes. Louis just shook his head.
"I met him a couple years back, 2022 I think, when i went to his show but not spoken to him since." The other two boys nodded. Before any other conversation could start, Niall's eyes lit up, his feet pushing the chair away as he stood up. Louis looked back to see Harry casually walking towards the table with a small smile playing on his lips. His dark brown hair cascaded down his shoulders, while his smile made his deep dimples pop out. He wore a black silk button up shirt keeping the last few buttons opened, pairing it with some black skinny jeans and a pair of Chelsea boots. By the time he neared the table, the other two boys had also stood up. They all hugged the tallest one before sitting down, their faces each holding a giddy smile. "So mate! A Vogue cover feature, two movies, and three Grammys! You're on a roll! Whats next? An Oscar?" Niall joked causing the rest of the boys to laugh and Harry to blush.
"It's all so crazy! Like I still cannot believe it... It's all thanks to the fans and the support they have shown me. I truly could not have done this without them." Harry said sincerely. The boys nodded, sharing his sentiments.
"I know, we have the best fans." Louis said smiling at the thought of seeing them during tour. The boys again agreed. "I mean, they can be a bit crazy and sometimes downright concerning. Remember the time they hacked into the security cams?" Louis laughed, the others also chuckling at the memory.
"Okay. But what have they NOT hacked into at this point? I mean we can barely release something without it getting leaked before." Liam said, still smiling. "And the rumours, my god! I mean Larry?" He said while all the others laughed again.
"I know, poor Eleanor got so much hate for that. I felt so guilty." Harry said softly. Louis gently patted Harry's back as a reassurance that he had nothing to be guilty of.
The boys talked for hours on an end that day, their stomachs hurting from the laughter. Louis wondered why he had ever felt nervous coming to see them in the first place. When he woke up the next day and checked Twitter, his small smile turned to a full grin as he saw the #OneDirectionMetUp trending worldwide. He quickly went to the group chat Niall had created the day before to keep in touch and sent them the screenshot of the hashtag. He wrote another message underneath the photo. Just three words. With a big smile on his face he sent it.
We made it.
