He couldn't take his eyes off of him. The face, the body, the way he walks was familiar. It was Alex. The last time Mason saw him was when he cut his cock off and killed him.
"How? I thought you are dead!" Mason exclaimed as he tried to pick himself up from floor. His arms were weak and rolled himself over. He gently leaned up against his bed.
"Mason..." Alex began to speak. He worn the same clothing before he died, dark blue jeans and a black graphic tee shirt. "I'm dead. I'm all in your head."
Mason's eyes widened and was speechless. He couldn't believe it. "Why are you here?"
Alex raised his finger and tapped onto his head. "Think Mason! I know you hate me and I don't blame you. Why are you here?"
"Am I crazy?" Mason asked. His voice bugged his head. He ran his hand where the knife cut him and felt stitches up his upper arm.
It wasn't a dream.
Alex shook his head. "No. Think!"
"The killer turned me in?" Mason asked. He was paranoid. "Is that what I'm here for?"
Miss Dory walked in and gave a warming smiley face towards Mason. "Hey Mason! Who are you talking to?"
His eyes wander behind the social worker and stares at Alex nodding his head with his finger against his lips. He faded away.
"Oh just myself, miss Dory. What bring you here on this fine day?" He said. He had to play dumb in order to know everything.
"I'm letting you know that I'm off your case as of today." Her voice was smooth and sweet.
"What is today?" Mason asked. He was confused. "I'm seventeen years old. A social worker can't leave a teenager!"
"Goodbye Mason. It was a privilege being your social worker," Miss Dory said as she walked out and came along a nurse with the same suspicious needle with liquid.
"I'm not crazy!" Mason yelled. He watched as the elderly nurse stuck himself with the needle and inject the liquid into him.
"I'll see you when you awake up."
The voice was the last thing Mason heard as he drifted off to sleep.
***
Mason shot up in a room he didn't recognize. The room was bright red and his legs were strapped with a leather belt, he believed.A heavy stench filled the room, bringing Mason to bring his hand to cover his nose. He readjusted his head and caught the glimpse at what caused the horrific smell.
On his left was Destiny's deceased body. Her body had missing chunks of skin and her face looked the worse; eyes hung out from the socket and with skin hanging off where her lower jaw should had been. Beside her was what seemed to be Aiden's head next to her. He could tell the body and head been there for more than a month.
"Oh gosh! I'm going to be sick."
The masked figure walked in with the Cold Steel 80PGTK. Could've used something different, Mason thought.
"Hello Mason," the voice was familiar and wasn't auto tuned or robotic. The figure took the mask off and unrevealed their face. Chills went down his spine. "Surprise! Bet you didn't think it would be me?"
The person under the mask was nonetheless Catherine Sexton. Her hair was pulled in a high bun. She had all black on; unisex jumpsuit, hoodie and rubber gloves.
"Detective Sexton?!"
"Bingo! You know what is the most exciting thing being on this case?" She asked and raised the knife to Mason's face. "To meet the original killer and pretend to be so innocent. You see the revenge murderer brought me to this town after you murdered my sweet darling niece, Amber. She wasn't a bitch and didn't deserved to die. You did!"
"Why?" Mason asked. "Why did you have to murder my friends? You could had easily turned me in."
"Oh I did! You see I had you committed to that psych ward for months and visited you daily. I asked you who should die and you did exactly that. We had to frame someone for these killings."
"That was a few days ago though," Mason said. "I remembered!"
"Wrong! You been in there for seven months. Drugged up that made you hallucinate being in public and with friends. I drugged you that day after you killed sweet loving Alex! His cock wasn't enough for you?"
"Why would you kill them? What was your motivation?" He asked as he pointed to Aiden and Destiny. "He out in the way and was going to expose me. I had no choice."
"Once again, you told me too and I wanted to watch you suffer! Beside Destiny got on my nerves with her whining ass and bullshit. For Aiden, I wouldn't kill my own nephew. For my motivation, I needed to take revenge on who murdered my Amber. I have one last surprise and you'd never saw this coming!"
"Next time use a chainsaw. It'll saw perfectly through muscle and bone and it'll terrific your victims even more. A knife is so 1970."
Mason couldn't believe Catherine was one of them and been in the institute for months. It felt like a dream.
"I was raised in that ward. My mother was a psycho and the nurses raised me there. My sister got the perfect life and adopted family while I rotten in that hell hole."
"Why didn't you get revenge for that?" Mason asked.
"It wasn't her fault she got the perfect life. Couldn't punish her for that so I gutted her parents and knew killing was sweet!"
"We are both the same. Let me go," Mason said. That what he thought.
"We are nothing like one another. I wouldn't kill my own sister you monster," Catherine said as she backed up from him and walked towards the leather belt and untied them. She laid the knife between his legs. "I'm going to keep you alive until the big reveal."
In one swift move, Mason gripped the knife from between his legs. You can do this. You have practiced..let's hope you remember, Mason thought.
He threw the knife and missed.
