Power Struggle

Chapter Twenty

  "John, when you gonna get Sera to learn to play bass?" Taz joked while the group stood in the baseball field.

  "Depends on whether  or not she wants to learn." John replied.

  "Why do you want me to learn bass?" Sera asked.

  "Because  we don't have a bass player and we want to be able to play some more songs." Shannon answered. "Besides  we saw something about a talent show  the schools going to do at the end of the year."

  "We think it'd be a cool way to introduce Parabellum." John said.

  "That'd  be cool, and probably  the first time I enjoyed  the school  talent show." Sera said.

  "Someone's coming" John said picking  up someone's  aura.

  "Well I heard there were a few people  looking for a fight but I didn't  actually  think anyone would show up." Eren said rounding  the corner.

  "Surprise surprise." John answered.

  "You realize I'm an 8.7 right?" Eren said full of himself.

  "Is that all? Damn I hoped I could get to 11 during this fight." John shot back sarcastically.

  "Enough." Eren powered up and threw John into the air.

  "Sera now!" John shouted as everyone  else powered up. Eren then threw John back at the Earth near terminal  velocity. Luckily  John now had access to the four abilities he needed. He started rewinding his clock even before he hit the ground. He braced himself as he rapidly approached the ground.

  "Not so strong are you now." Eren shouted as John hit the ground leaving  a creator.

  "Damn it. That hurt more then I thought." John said climbing out of the hole.

  "How are you still alive?!" Eren shouted confused.

  "Simple.  I'm stronger  then you." John said as he and Sera dashed forward. Eren immediately tried to trow a large chunk of Earth at John who dodged it with ease. Allowing Sera to escape Eren's line of sight

  "How the hell is he able to change direction so rapidly  at that speed?!" Eren questioned. "Wait wasn't there another one?"

  "Surprise!" Sera said as she appeared behind Eren and punched him in the back."

  As Eren turned to strike John yelled "Focus on me asshole!" By this point John was almost in melee range.

  "Go to hell!" Eren Yelled swinging a fist at John. It stopped. Eren was confused for a second before an explosion blew him off his feet and his arm was drenched in blood. John stopped  as he rewound the damage he took from the explosion.

  "Your welcome." Taz said as he raised his arm and fired a blast into the sky. The beam then split into six as they turned and homed in on Eren.

  "Thats the signal!" Someone yelled. "Fire!" The snipers on the roof shot in a volley.

  Seeing the incoming  shots from the surrounding roofs. Eren let out a loud yell as he got to his feet. "Who said your friends could get involved?!" He yelled.

  Definitely  stressing his ability Eren pushed all the shots back at the ones who fired them.

  "Shit! He deflected them back!" Blyke yelled. "Take cover!" He said it despite knowing many would not have time, as he himself  barely  managed  to role off the roof before his blast hit where was crouched only seconds before.

  "What the hell was that?" John yelled as things exploded around him. "We can't freeze him?!"

  "If you can't then we need to beat him the old fashioned way. Beat the shit out of him." Sera responded indicating she had no more luck freezing Eren then John did.

  Just then a large chunk of one of the nearby buildings came flying directly at Sera.

  "Look out!" Shannon yelled despite knowing there was little chance Sera  would dodge it. Seconds later there was another explosion. As the smoke cleared  John fell to his knees.

  "You ok?" He asked Sera as he rewound his wounds and slowly got to his feet. "Taz I hate the fact your only defense does damage to the user."

  "Me too." Taz said. "But its minimal as long as your not right  next to the damn thing."

  John then tried to do the same thing Eren did to him when the fight first started. However he couldn't seem to lift him more then seven or so feet. *thats not high enough to do any significant damage.* he though. "Taz! Range support!"

  "Got it." Taz said as he fired four shots into the sky. Each one splitting into six. While they all went different directions they all had the same destination. However Eren obviously didn't like that idea.

  The projectiles began to fall from the sky. Shannon  saw there were three headed straight at her. She deflected then with ease as did Taz who used the shield resulting in another  loud explosion. John used the same method as Taz.

  The bad part of this was Sera had no way to deflect  the shots. Seeing the obvious Eren made sure the shots that were still airborne  focused on her. She was able to dodge a few that fell short, however soon they were coming from all sides.

  When it looked like Sera was done for even with the ability  to rewind damage every shot suddenly  exploded as Sera was engulfed in an intense heat.

  "Looked like you could use some help." Blyke said standing up next to Sera.
