Power Struggle

Chapter six

"What the hell was that?" John asked. He was pissed "how could you not tell me you are working with the Feds?!"

"Listen John-"

"No! You listen," John started. "Wait, wait a minute." He paused. "Your here to overthrow me. New Boston couldn't bare the thought of me being the king. Especially not here, at a school like Wellston."

"Listen John, that's not why we're here." Shannon said.

"Your not a part of this" John retorted.

"Actually John, she is." Taz said.

"Both of you? God, no one could bare the thought that dictator John Doe had moved on. Had grown from who he was?" John snapped. "I should have know that when you two showed up it was to take me down."

"John listen-" shannon stated.

"No! You listen. I won't have any of your shit anymore." John activated his ability.

"John, don't do this" Taz warned. "We've bested you before, we can do it again."

"Wrong." John said grabbing Shannon by the throat. "If anyone is going to best me they do it solo." Shannon tried to pop a heat pulse to get John to let up his grip, but all this did was cause him to tighten it. It also gave him access to her ability. *We don't need you anymore* John thought to himself before throwing her into a wall and knocking her out.

"What have you just done?" Taz screamed as he powered up. Knowing that at a 7.3 he had been able to best John before, granted he did have Shannon as backup.

Taz's scream raised attention of some students who quickly found out what the problem was.

"Oh my god! Taz is going to fight John!!" A random student announced. This got people to run to the windows. Seraphina saw the scene start to unfold. She immediately turned and ran out the door.

When she found the pair outside she immediately tried to intervene and stop them. "Guys stop this," she said.

"Sera stay out of this, he's a fucking traitor!" John yelled.

"Sera, he's lost it, the only thing I can do is best him, again."

After some back and forth as Sera struggled to calm the situation down.
John continued to get aggressive as Taz simply tried to by time before he had to fight John.

"Enough!" Sera screamed somehow activating her ability. How? Even she didn't know. As John and Taz froze in place John knew something was up when he picked up her ability.

"Sera-" John said.

"John-" she said, overcome with emotions. "I did it! My ability! I did it!" She hugged John.

"What the hell is Seraphina doing?" Someone asked

"Yeah, hugging John? Is she insane?" Someone else asked

"Who knows, but it doesn't look like John and Taz are going to fight after all."

Since Sera activated her ability somehow John now had access to it, so when she refused to unfreeze him he simply did it himself. Taz knew that the situation was bad, really bad.

"Fine John, you want to know the truth?"

"Yes. I very much do."

"You can't handle the truth!" Of course Taz had to make that quote, he couldn't resist. He did however quickly follow it up in an attempt to quite John. "I can barely talk to you, I mean everytime I say anything you immediately call bullshit and want to beat me."

"I'm sure you can see why."

"John, the NBPD found information on a corrupt individual. Beating people just because he has the power and wants to prove a damn point."

"And why should I care?"

"Simple John. You know him."

"You have three seconds to explain." John unfroze Taz.

"It's Keon."

John went white as a sheet. "K-K-Keon?"

"Yeah. Your correctional officer."

"I-" John started before he dropped to the ground in years.

"Sera, take him back to his drom, I have to deal with Shannon, then I'll be up." Taz said walking over to Shannon.

"Ok" Sera replied picking John up

As Sera and John walked away Taz bent over Shannon. "It'll be ok, you'll be ok Shannon." Taz bent over and kissed her on the forehead before picking her up and walking to the infirmary.

"How may I help you-" Darren said turning around. "Oh shit, I take it John did that?"

"Yeah," Taz said

"You can lay her over there in that bed" Darren pointed at an empty bed.

"Thanks Doc," Taz said laying Shannon down. "I hate to drop her off and run, but I have to deal with John right now,"

"Go ahead, I'll take good care of her, and let her know what happened when she wakes up.

"Thanks Doc." Taz said as he left the infirmary heading to John's dorm.
