Chapter Fifty-two

They walked down the hall until they finally made it in front of their apartment door. Gabriel stopped Daniel from injecting the key inside the lock.

"Look—" he held onto his shoulders—"you can't say anything."

Daniel nodded. "I know. It's just . . . fuck," he hissed.

Brian tried not to go deeper into the topic to the point that he was about to create a mental image of Emiliano and Emma's children. "Nope. I went too far," he mumbled.

"Okay, come on." Gabriel took the keys from Daniel's hands and opened the front door.

"Is he here?" Connor peeked over Gabriel's shoulder.

Gabriel gulped. "I'll go check." He told them to stay behind and pretend everything was fine.

"Em?" He walked down the hall until he knocked on her door. She opened it up immediately, only wrapped up in a blanket with the door ajar, not letting him see any further inside. "Is he here?" he whispered.

Emma nodded. "I've got to get him out."

"Tell him to hold on. Come on out." He walked back to the kitchen. "He's here," he confirmed. "I told her I'd find a way to distract you guys."

Daniel sighed and momentarily stopped taking stuff out of the plastic bags. "I can't believe this."

"You're taking this better than I would've ever expected." Gabriel smiled awkwardly.

Daniel rubbed his eyes. "He's my fucking cousin. I've lived with him since I was a fucking child and my best friend and my fucking cousin are-" he cut himself off, not wanting to finish the sentence.

"At least he's not my cousin," Connor murmured. He looked up to find Daniel glaring at him. "What?"

"Alright, you guys go to your rooms and I'll tell him he can go out now."

They all obliged with shakes of their heads and closed their bedroom doors behind them.

Gabriel took his phone out of his pocket and texted Emma to take Emiliano out. Seconds later, he saw them walking out with their lips latched onto one another.

"They'll be back out in minutes you know." He leaned against the stove and sighed.

"Sorry." Emma shyly smiled at him and settled back on her feet, Emiliano letting her go from around her waist.

"Can I ask you guys something?"

Emiliano nodded while he fixed his cuffs. "Go ahead."

"When are you planning on telling everybody else?" Gabriel crossed one arm over the other. "You can't keep hiding forever, not in the situation you're both in."

Emiliano looked down at Emma and smiled. "Soon." He slightly bent his back to kiss her lips.

Emma sighed in contentment. "Yeah. Soon."

Gabriel smiled as the two stared into each other's eyes. "Soulmates," he whispered to himself.

"Okay, bye." Emma pushed Emiliano out the door. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"I love you." He brought her out into the hallway and kissed her deeply, away from Gabriel's eyes. "I'll call you." He peppered kisses on her face. "Okay?"

"Okay," she giggled out. "Stop," she whimpered. "I have to go back in."

"I love you, princesa." He breathed in her lovely scent once more before giving her a final kiss on the forehead.
