Keiko happily munched on her stick of Dango whilst gently swinging her and Kakashi's intertwined hands, earning a deep, almost inaudible chuckle from her love.
"I'm glad that venture is behind us." Kakashi let out a deep breath, his brother-in-law's nodded in agreement.
"So about that date Sasuke-" Keiko started with a smirk.
"Stop it." The youngest Uchiha sibling growled with a faint blush forming on his cheeks.
"I'm just saying, you've gotta be romantic. Sakura is a young lady, not Naruto." Keiko looked over at her now red-faced younger brother.
"Don't overthink it Otouto. Just do what comes naturally." Itachi gave a soft smile and a small pat on Sasuke's back.
"What do you know about romance?" Sasuke raised an eyebrow at his older brother.
Kakashi also peeked over at the ex-criminal who just smiled.
"You can call me a hopeless romantic, but I've actually done a lot of reading, and Mother would always talk about how to treat women." His closed eye smile had a tint of sadness.
"Ah. It is usually best to do what comes naturally." Kakashi picked up on the dip in mood and casually changed the direction of the topic.
"I know that already." Sasuke rolled his eyes but the corners of his mouth tugged up a bit into a small smile. Keiko stayed quiet for a bit as the older men continued to tease poor Sasuke, her eyes briefly looking up at Kakashi as she thought about their own romance. It's been a very busy 6 years of knowing each other and so much had happened. A lot of good and a lot of bad, but she couldn't be happier with where they are now. Their family was literally growing as she glanced over at Itachi and then finally resting her hand on her slightly swollen stomach.
"Do the twins know they're going to have a baby brother or sister?" Itachi glanced down at his sister who seemed to be in thought.
"Not yet. I'm not sure they would understand what that meant." Keiko gave a small laugh, already knowing they would pester both her and Kakashi on how babies are made as soon as they found out.
"Probably not." Itachi smirked, "have you been feeling alright?" He felt a small pang of guilt from her first pregnancy. He never forgot her pleading with him to save her first child.
"It's been easier so far compared to the twins. There was a little morning sickness but it seems like I'm over that now." Keiko smiled and gave his arm a small punch, "do you think you'll try to find a nice person someday?" She noticed a small glimmer of sadness in his eyes that wavered but he quickly recovered. She guessed it would still be a while before he fully forgave himself for his past.
"Maybe, if the right person comes along." He gave a reassuring smile. "I won't be actively looking though. I have nephews to worry about now." He let out a small chuckle.
"They're quite a handful now that they can run around and talk." Keiko felt her heart warm and the memory of Itachi talking with her baby boys.
"We should stop for the night and finish heading back tomorrow. I think we all could use some more rest." Kakashi stopped the group at a small inn and honestly felt relieved there were no complaints.
Keiko let out a deep sigh as she set down her bag in her and Kakashi's room. Itachi and Sasuke were more than willing to share a room so Kakashi and her could have some privacy. The weight of the interrogations, well more like interviews were starting to take its toll on her.
"You doing okay?" Kakashi came up behind her, his big warm hands lightly massaged her tense shoulders, earning a small groan.
"I think I'll be okay. I'm going to be ready to stop traveling so much though. I've been getting more tired recently." She leaned back so he would wrap his arms around her and hug her close, which he did. His warmth allowed her to fully relax in his arms allowed herself to lean her head back onto his collarbone.
