The next day after school, Caroline, Naomi, Jessica, and Michelle went back to the band to see what Ron had in store for Caroline. When they entered, Ron was reading a book, and sitting right to him on a stand, was a brand new gold and silver tenor saxophone. "Hey Ron," said Naomi "nice saxophone. Who plays that?" When Ron heard Naomi's question, he looked at them and started chuckling. "Caroline plays it now," said Ron as he pointed at Caroline "this is her new instrument." "Oh my goodness it's beautiful," said Caroline "thank you Ron." "You're welcome Caroline," said Ron "now concert band isn't going to start up again for a little while and if you had waited until we started back, you would've had to audition. But since you did so ahead of time, when we start back, there will be a spot and a fresh instrument waiting for you." "That is a huge convenience for me," said Caroline "well thanks again Ron." "You're welcome," said Ron "well I have a meeting to get to, so you four gotta get home." "Alright then," said Jessica "see you tomorrow."
After that, for Caroline, the school began to blend together and fly by and before she knew it, the school dance was the next day. "So who's excited for the dance tomorrow?" asked Naomi. "I definitely am" said Caroline.
The next day after school, Caroline went home and prepared for the dance. She had a shiny purple dress with a pair of purple 3 inch heel shoes. As she walked down the stairs, her mother and father were waiting for her. "You look so beautiful" said her mother. "I feel like my little girl is growing up too fast for me" said her father. Before Caroline and her mother left so that her mother could drive her to the dance, her father told her that neither of them would be able to pick her up and to ask one of her friends for a ride home.
When her mother pulled up to her school, she gave Caroline a hug and kiss. "Have fun Caroline" she said. "I will mom," said Caroline "thank you for the ride." With that, Caroline exited her mother's car and walked inside of the school. When she walked in, she heard music blasting and saw children dancing all around.
She was finally able to find Michelle after some searching. "There you are," said Caroline "where is Jessica and Naomi?" "Well Jessica is right over there" Michelle said as she pointed in Jessica's direction. When Caroline looked over, she saw Jessica making out with one of the students. "Oh wow I didn't know Jessica had a boyfriend" said Caroline. "She doesn't," said Jessica "I'm not even quite sure that she even knows the guy." "Alright then," said Caroline with her eyes now widened "I'm sorry I even asked. So where's Naomi?" "Um I'm not sure," said Michelle "She was here a minute ago. I'm guessing she either is dancing with someone or she is in the bathroom."
After they stopped talking, they went down near the center of the room and started dancing. As they were dancing, two guys walked up to them and asked them if they wanted to dance. They accepted the offer and they started dancing with each other. Soon after, Naomi joined them as she was also dancing with another guy.
A few hours later, the dance was ended but Caroline couldn't find any of her friends. Once she remembered that her parents wouldn't be able to pick her up, she began to severely worry. Because of that, she went outside to clear her head. As she was outside, a black mustang pulled up next to her. The passenger window rolled down and she could hear the drivers voice. "Hey, girl in the purple dress," said the driver "you need a ride home?" Normally, Caroline wouldn't take a ride from someone that she didn't know. But, since she was desperate to get home, she toke her chances and got into the car.
"Thanks for the ride by the way" said Caroline. "Don't think anything of it," he said "by the way, you don't remember me. Do you?" Caroline looked at him with extreme curiosity and shook her head. "No," she said "no I don't." With that, the driver shook his head and he began to explain. "Well you were in a rush to get to class," he said "and bump into me and dropped your book and I went and picked it up for you. However, it looks like you never even looked at me." When he said that, Caroline finally remembered. The guy had light blue eyes, short blonde hair, and a skinny muscular type of body. "Oh my goodness," said Caroline "now I remember. I never even got your name." "Well the name is Alex," he said "Alex Thomas. And you?" "I'm Caroline," said Caroline "Caroline Brooke. Nice to actually meet you" "Likewise," said Alex "so just tell me your address and I'll get you there. I know these streets pretty good." As he said that, he started the car and began to drive.
"Okay my address is 341 46th Street." said Caroline. "Alright got it" said Alex. "So what grade are you in Alex?" asked Caroline. "11th," said Alex "You?" "9th," said Caroline "so tell me a little bit about yourself." When she said that, Alex looked at her and then back at the road. "I don't do interviews" said Alex. "Ok then" said Caroline. Soon, Alex pulled up to Caroline's house. "Is this the place?" asked Alex. "Yes this is it," said Caroline "thanks again for the ride home." "No problem," said Alex "I guess I'll see you at school on Monday." "Ok then," said Caroline "see you later." After she said that, Alex drove off, and she walked inside of her house.
