20 years later......
Ethan was standing by a grave with so many thoughts going through his head. Suddenly, his thought was broken by a voice coming from behind him. "Hey Ethan," said the mysterious voice "it's been a while." Ethan turned around to discover that the voice belonged to Caroline. "Well look who it is," Ethan said as began to laugh "how long has it been? 15 years?"
"Yeah just about," Caroline said "I never thanked you for talking your dad into letting me stay with you guys. I really needed it." "Don't worry about it," Ethan said "do you even talk to your parents at all anymore?" "Actually no," Caroline said as she began frown "I actually had to change my name to help me stay under the radar. I don't go by Caroline Brooke. Now, it's Sarah Delilah." "Oh," Ethan said "well I can understand that. How did you find me anyway?" Caroline looked at him for a few seconds and began to giggle. "You're forgetting two things," she said "one, I'm an FBI agent. Two, I already had your cell phone number so tracking you down was way too easy. What are you doing out in a cemetery?" When she asked that, Ethan pointed to the grave that he was standing by. Caroline walked to closer to the grave to read it. The tombstone read,"Alex Thomas. Beloved Friend."
After reading it, Caroline nearly broke down into tears. "It's alright," Ethan said "he's with his mother again. And I spoke to Taylor a couple days ago. She's doing real good. She married with 2 kids and a third expected in about five months she tells me. Caroline, there's one thing that I don't understand about you." "What's that" asked Caroline. "Answer this for me," Ethan said with slight laughter in his voice "how the hell do you go from shy goody two shoes, to murderer, to rape victim, to refugee, to FBI agent?" "You know," said Caroline who couldn't help but laugh at that "to this day, I have not a clue." "Well you're always gonna be Caroline Brooke to me," Ethan said "well I'm gonna get going. Next time, just call if you wanna talk. You don't gotta track me down like I'm hiding from you." "Alright then" said Caroline. As she looked at the grave, she saw a bright light appear in front of her, and from that bright light, emerged a teenage boy with a skinny muscular type of body, blond hair, blue eyes, and a black leather jacket. "I said it once and I'll say it again," the teenage boy said as he looked at Caroline "everything will be okay."
