The night before had been fun, especially for her friend. Toni had come out of the women's bathroom with Cheryl, makeup slightly smudged and hair quite the mess. Both women reemerged, giggling as they set forth towards the buffet table.
"Well, damn. I'm not gonna ask about what happened in there." Betty remarked, staring at her friend's appearance. "Judging by the big hickey on Toni's neck, I don't think we wanna know. I mean I always knew that Toni had some major switch energy but more so bottom energy."
"I mean you are correct. I guess we're stuck third-wheeling and hoping they don't fuck on the table." Jughead took a sip of his drink, sighing contently as the warm liquor slipped down his throat.
Betty giggled, sipping on her martini. "I suppose your right." She raised her glass to him. "Cheers to being the third wheel, always."
He met her glass, clink. "To being the third wheel."
Toni gave them an odd look and smirked.
"We're going to leave you two alone again. Bye."
"Really? Again babe!?" Betty called after them, getting a few glares from other guests.
"Yes. Now, just maybe try to not return to our room anytime soon. We have some things to-erm." Toni blushed lightly, earning a chuckle from Cheryl. "We've got things to discuss."
"Antionette Topaz! Get your ass-" Betty found her friend scurrying off with the stranger she has barely talked to, sighing, "And she's gone. Dammit."
Jughead talked again after Betty took another sip of her drink. "Hey, sorry if I made you uncomfortable yesterday at the bakery. I just thought you were really pretty."
Betty giggled and blushed, trying to hide it with her glass. "Why, thank you Jug."
He blushed, hiding his face away from her. "Welcome."
They were quiet, comfortably at least. Blushes heated up their faces, both facing away from each other. Jughead broke the silence a few minutes later.
"Wanna go outside? I found this spot on the roof where you can see the entire sky. The view is amazing."
Betty set her drink down and nodded, taking his hand. "Show me the way." Her voice was soft, meek.
"Of course, M'lady." He said in a posh accent,
Betty allowed him to lead her, focusing on how soft yet rough his hands felt and the way they perfectly molded to hers, almost like they were custom made.
"Betty? What are you thinking about?"
She hummed softly. "Just the fact that I am going on the roof with a stranger, praying he won't kill me then returning to a room that's locked or smells like sex if I don't get murdered."
"That's some thought, little lady. But why would I kill you when your friend knows that you're with me? And people saw me lead you out here. I'd be a dumbass to even try." He pushed open a heavy door, lodging a cement block in the door. His sleeves were rolled up, flexing his veiny forearms, tie hanging loose in his dress shirt. "So we don't get locked out."
Betty nodded, taking in the rooftop. There were two crates, mostly meant for a type of seating. The wind danced across her arms, making her shiver.
"Shit, my bad. I forgot it was cold." He slipped his arms out of his coat jacket, resting it on her shoulders. "Here, use this."
"But, won't you get cold?"
"I'll be fine. Come on." He led him over to the crates and sat on one, Betty on the other.
