Jugheads POV

"Jughead. Call someone. Now."

Betty meant to say it calmly, but there was definite terror in her voice. I pulled my phone out quickly and opened to the call app. I dialed 911 and before I could press call, Betty shoved Cheryl across the frozen lake where we were and fell through the fresh hole in ice.

I dropped the phone in the snow and ran directly onto the ice, not caring if it took me under too. Looking through the hole, I realized she was already gone. "Its the currnent! Find her!" I shouted without realizing, instinct taking over. I was not going to let my girlfriend die. I never even told her I loved her.

I ran over the ice, slipping as I spread out the snow trying to get a glimpse if her blonde hair through the clear patches. "Over here! Jug she's over here!" Archie shouted from across the lake and I got over there as fast as I could without falling in the water too.

I saw where Arch was pointing, and immediately started punching the ice.

I didn't stop as I heard sirens from behind us.

I didn't stop when Veronica gasped at the blood now coming from my open knuckles.

I only stopped when there was a second hole big enough to grab Betty from. I plunged my hand into the biting water and found her arm, pulling her up and setting her on the ice. Her lips were blue and skin deathly pale, devoid of all color. My mom made me take a CPR class back when she was here, and I performed it on Betty. After a few tries she coughed up some water and stirred feebly, her eyes fluttering. I picked her up bridal style and carried her out to the shore.

I didn't even realize what was happening as the paramedics that came towards us took her from me  and brought her to the ambulance waiting at the road. Or when I got in with her much to the protest of Veronica trying to go with her, when Archie stopped her and said that I should go with her. The only thing I was completely aware of was sitting in Betty's hospital room a few hours later, half asleep, and heard a "Juggie".

Betty POV

I woke up in a unfamiliar room with bright lights. I shifted and realized someone was holding my hand, sitting in a nearby chair when it dawned on me I was in a hospital room.

I turned and saw Jughead was the one with my hand in his. The other was in a cast. His eyes were half open and he was laying back in his chair.

"Juggie." I croaked out, my voice hoarse from disuse. He immediately shot up, looking for the source of noise.
His eyes landed on mine, before standing up and kissing my forehead.
"Hey betts." He sat back down, smiling widely that I was awake.

"What happend? I don't remember anything after shoving Cheryl off the ice." I asked him, my voice still sore. He filled me in from there. Cheryl calling 911 while he three of them looking for me under the ice, jugheads broken hand, the paramedics taking me to the hospital, Veronica and Archie waiting in the lobby with my parents and Cheryl.

"Cone sit with me Jug." I patted the spot in the bed next to me and scooched over so he could sit with me. "Are you sure Betts?"He looked at me a little wary, as if I would get hurt. "Absolutley, Jug. You won't hurt me." I responded with a small smile, patting the spot again. He got up from the chair and sat next to me, pecking my lips when he did. "That's all I get? A small peck?"

I smirked at him when he caught me off guard with a long but slow kiss." Mmm. That's more like it." I teased after breaking us apart. He swung his legs over the side of the bed and wrapped his arms around my waist, with my head on his shoulder.

"So, let me get one thing straight." I started after we were comfortable. "You punched through a river of ice, just so I wouldn't drown. And that's how you brome your arm?" "Of course. There was no way I was going to let my beautiful girlfriend drown." He smiled and took one hand off my waist to put a finger under my chin and kissed me again.

"Only Jughead Jones would compliment someone and kiss them right after they almost died." "Well anyone would if you were their girlfirend." He replies, pushing his lips into mine again. We dont break apart this time. I sit on his lap and deepen the kiss, my hands going through his hair when the door opened.

I didnt register that more people were in the room until I heard my mother's voice. "Elizabeth! What are you doing?" I let go of Jughead and looked at him. "Shit." I whispered before clumsily climbing off of him and sitting next to him. He put his arm back around my hips before talking.

"How long was I out? We were at the lake around noon, and it's dark out now." I asked, looking out the window  to the orange-ish sky. "5 hours. The doctors said to just let you sleep it out." "Oh thanks for that. I haven't been sleeping well lately." Jughead gave me a concerned look and tried to speak before my mom cut him off.

"While I love this catch up, you have to get ready for the Jubilee, Elizabeth. You're doing a speech." I nodded and got up to go to the bathroom. I came out a moment later changed into some dry clothes my mom brought in.

"I'll see you later, Juggie." I kissed Jughead quickly before being ushered off to the Jubilee with my mother and father.
