"Thank you for the pain, it made me raise my game."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My eyes flutter open to blinding white led lights. I slowly looked around the hospital room, the white wall and grey furniture making it feel a little less like an asylum. I tried to move by wires and tubes limited my movements. My limbs were bandaged, I don't remember what happened.
A doctor entered the room and gently shut the door behind him. "Hello dear, how are you feeling?"
"I've been better." He chuckled lightly at my joke.
"Your body is healing exceptional fast, dose it have to do with your quirk?" I nodded explaining my quirk in more detail then what was already on file. He seemed impressed with my healing ability.
"Under the right circumstances you heal quickly, but you are fortunate to have such a good friend" he gestured to the red winged hero sleeping in a chair "he was very worried about you and wouldn't leave." I smiled at the thought,when he gets upset he puffs up his feathers it's kind of adorable.
"You need to be more careful your quirk wasn't prepared for extended use, you could have died" he gives me a small smile and leaves the room.
I hadn't notice he started to stir from the chair. He stretched his wings out they grazed the ceiling fully extended. His face lit up once he realized I was awake.
"Y/n your awake!" He said enthusiastically jumping out of his seat. "How are you feeling? Do you need a drink? Are you hungry?"
He paused for my answer "Slow down, what happened?" He looked slightly puzzled.
"There was a burning building, we were evacuating the premises. I heard you call me, I rushed to find you. By the time I got there you were burned and practically unconscious."
I just nodded my head my memory still fuzzy. "I rushed you here.. I didn't know what to do..." he rubbed the back of his neck and looked at me.
We're from the same agency they raised us as child soldiers. We've been programmed to become heroes and train with our quirks to the fullest. When he became number 3 we drifted apart, we didnt have the time. He was the only reason I didn't end up a villain. I just wanted to protect him and be with him. I shook my head to clear my thoughts.
"So how did you manage to stay here, I mean don't you have hero work?" I question lightly. He is usually so busy with interviews and modeling gigs on top of being a hero.
"The agency didn't mind because you were involved. They actually rearrange my schedule so I could stay." He said with a smile that melts hearts. I tried to think of their motives. Maybe they wanted hawks to take me under his wing so I could become a hero.
"So when can I get out of here." I said sitting up picking, at the bandages that lined my skin. I didn't look up at him but I could tell his eyes were on me. He hesitated to place his hand on mine with good reason. I jerked my hand when our skin came in contact. I hadn't noticed he wasnt wearing his gloves until his warmth seeped into my skin. I looked up at him his gold eyes held a level of uncertainty.
"Give it a day or two, raindrop," I smile at the nickname he used to call me that all the time. It drove me nuts, I'm surprised he remembered it. I gently hold onto his hand and nod. I never really liked the doctors it just brings back bad memories.
We spent the rest of the day playing games and watching tv. At one point Keigo left to get some fried chicken. While he was gone a nurse came in to check my I.V. drip.
"Hello Ms. L/N how are you feeling?" She asked glancing down at her clip board. I told her I'm feeling alright and that I wasn't in to much pain. The pain meds are working but I know that when burns don't hurt it burned the nerve ending making it is worse. I couldn't tell how bad they were as i looked to my bandages limbs. I couldn't remember seeing them.
I snapped out of it when I heard her scribbling notes. "How bad are my burns?" She looks up from the board a few strands of her blonde hair fell over her glasses.
"Well its about time I changed your badges anyway, so I'll show you." She said as she placed the board down and prepare herself. She collected all the necessary supplies and scrubbed her hands. After she was done drying her hands she put on some gloves.
She started with my right arm. As she undressed the cotton fiber a black burn was shown it spread from my bicep to my shoulder blade. The extent of the damage was severe I would surely be left with a scar, it was too much even for my ability. My left leg looked the same the charred tissue reaching from my hip to just above my knee and took up about half my thigh. My other limbs weren't nearly as bad they held blisters and a red color but they would heal with minimal scarring.
Hawks walked in just as she was bandging the last bit of my leg. I'm sure he got a glimpse of my state, I could see the guilt lingering in his eyes. We didnt talk about it the expression on his face disappeared in an instant. The nurse bowed and took her leave. He smiled brightly at me, not a real smile more like one you would show to the media.
"I got some food for you" he said placing a container of chicken and mashed potatoes in front of me.
"It's ok Hawks I'm not hungry any more." I said with a sad smile as I averted my gaze.
