It is currently 5:30 in the morning Hawks and I are walking to the agency. He decided to wake me up the same as yesterday. Ripping me for my cozy blanket and forcing me to endure the harsh weather. Okay so maybe it's not that harsh but still. The crisp morning air woke me up as we continued.

"Tell me again why we couldn't drive," I whine at him. He chuckled at my misery.

"Y/n exercise is good for you," he smiles placing his hands behind his head.

I groan playfully at his remark "That's why I didn't get it the first time it's a dumb reason." He just grins. He gets way to much enjoyment from watching me suffer.

As we walk into the building the were greeted with silence. I look around I've never been here this early usually the place is bustling with life. I look to Keigo as he motions for me to follow him. We arrive in a huge room with equipment and gear. Flipping on the lights he drops his coat and walking to the center. I follow suit.

"Show me what you got, don't hold back" I throw a punch me blocked it with ease. I roundhouse kick he grabs my leg forcing me to the ground.

"Come on y/n you can do better than this," his voice echos through the empty room bouncing off the walls. A shiver runs down my spine my body wants so freeze but I do my best to push forward. My hand trembling with every movement. My fight or flight response kicked in and I was more violent then I intended. I got hawks on the ground my boot pressing into his wing. A dagger forming in my hand.

"HEY WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TWO DOING HERE," a voice boomed. A voice I recognized. I snapped out of my instinct and let him go, backing away slowly. The man was already behind me he grabbed my arm. Ripping me to him "if it isn't y/n I thought you didnt practice with your quirk," he sneared at me. I put my head down I didn't want to talk.

"I'm talking to you girl," he tightly grabs my chin forcing me to look at him. His red eyes inspected my body like a buyer at an auction. I felt disgusting, I slowly crossed my arms trying to make the bandages less noticeable.

"What happened here, trying to play hero again," my heart dropped. His hand drug over my wrapped skin. He tucked loose hair behind my ear and whispered ," just remember what happens when you try to play hero" he glances at Keigo "you better not hurt our angel over there."

Another wave of chills washed over my body as he released his grip walking over to Keigo. I just stood there as he talked with the winged hero. I couldn't hear them I had shut down. Lost in my thoughts.

There are things that even Hawks dosen't know about. That man was our trainer for years he always seemed to single me out. Playing mind games and twisting my words. We had made a deal and I had to keep my end of the bargain. When I finally looked up he was leaving the room "Bye rengi" Hawks called out to the figure as he exited.

"Y/n how are you," he  walked over to me I couldn't help but notice his wing dragging slightly. I avoid his hand and walk behind him. Just as I was about to make contact with his scarlet feathers he grabs me. "I'm fine, y/n."

I gently touch his wing and he grits his teeth. "I knew it let me see," he reluctantly turns around I stretch out his wing. Moving the feathers I find his skin bruised and wounds that have scabbed over.

He hisses in pain "It wasn't you I got it in the fire." He won't  look me in the eyes. He knows what I'd say why didnt you tell me you could have been better by now. But that's not how he would see it. I pressed a gentle kiss to his wing, the soft crimson feathers ruffle at my touch.

"I'm sorry I hurt your wing" I say studying his feathers that have now smoothed down. He just pulls me into an embrace. Then we went on with training we took it easy this time. Making sure neither of us aggravated our injuries.

As the sweat dripped off my y/c hair we sat down. "Have you thought of a hero costume yet," he said breathlessly as his chest heaved.

Honestly I hadn't given it much thought up until a week ago I wasn't going to be a hero. I still don't feel like I am, because it's for him.

"Let's go simpler, how about a color." He wiggles his eyebrows "how about red like my wings, we can match." He fluffs out his feathers calling attention to them. I nudge his shoulder playfully. I thought for a moment I remembered the stunning shade of blue. The way the shade was caught in his irises reminds me of the ocean. Gazing into them was like looking into the water endlessly deep and unpredictable.

"Red doesn't suit my quirk well" I press my finger into my cheek thinking out loud. "I think I'll go with a blue tone." Hawks smiled sweetly and took a swig of water.

"So am I really going to be working along side you?" I leaned back into the wall the brick cooling my skin.

Yep he said popping the p "what's a better way for you to learn then to get experience." Its true the agency never pushed me into hero work like they did Keigo. But with the opportunity that arose I'm sure they wouldn't deny making me into one. Think of the headlines 'Winged hero comes back from a break with a sidekick' we'll never get a moments peace from those dogs.
