A/N this is kinda a sequel to my book New York but you don't need to read it to understand. If you do read it some details might make more sense but if you don't want to then just know that
SPOILERS
Nico got kidnapped by the Avengers after The Titan's Curse and shenanigans happened. Steve and Bucky are dating and know about the Greek Gods. Tony knows how his parents died and got kidnapped by Wanda and Pietro who were working with Kronos. They eventually figured out he was a bad guy and helped Nico rescue Tony. Nico shadow traveled them back to New York and vanished again. There's more but I think that's all you need to know for this book.
Annabeth's POV
I looked around the apartment. It seemed nice, although it would be weird to be living with Percy. After the war was over we ended up deciding against going to college in New Rome, because I got an amazing offer from Stark Industries to work with them, without a degree. (Mother may have had something to do with it, but I can't blame her. She wanted me to stay close and has grudgingly agreed that Percy is allowed to be my friend, but not my boyfriend. We have ignored her and so far Percy only got turned into a guinea pig twice. I don't know how Athena knew but the second rule a child of Athena learns is don't question mom) We had been considering college in New Rome but after the war we had been promised that the Greek world will not bother us for the entire time we're in college, so I wanted to go to New York and Percy was happy to be near his mom. We were also promised that our house would be a safe haven for demigods. This job will hopefully be challenging, and came with an apartment for the two of us. I checked and the building has good soundproofing, so we should be able to practice fighting and nightmares won't wake our neighbors up.Percy slams the door open and comes over for a hug. I run away making sure he can't touch me. I don't know why he's covered in blue paint but I do not want to get paint on me as well. After a few tries he sees he failed so he goes over to the sink to start washing off. "Hello Wise girl" he says as he scrubs at his arms.
"Hello Seaweed brain, what were you doing?"
"I was with Harley and Nyssa and he had this idea to make a robot that could paint a room for you and it didn't end well."
Of course it didn't, it was Percy and Hephaestus kids creating a robot. They are intelligent, but sometimes their ideas are just too weird to work without lots and lots of planning. "Why were you trying to make a painting robot?" I ask and he flinches.
"It's a secret."
"And you can't even tell me?"I ask but I'm hurt. The only secrets we keep from each other are for each other, or when someone is an idiot like when Percy thought he could reconstruct burned cupcakes by getting them wet or I tried to understand how the Demeter cabin roof works by climbing on it.
"I promised I wouldn't tell, and it's not my secret! But you should find out why soon. Now are you unpacked yet because we need to go to my mom's house in like half an hour."
"I'm done with my stuff but we still need to set up the rest of the kitchen and the living room. And considering that Piper and Jason are coming over next week we need to finish before they arrive."
"I thought they were sleeping in our bedroom!" he objects. Even though it's been years Percy still hates to clean his cabin, or apartment now.
"They are, which means we are sleeping in the living room. So unless you want to sleep on the floor again" I say and he shakes his head. Both of us associate sleeping on the floor with quests, and we are so done with them. It's going to be nice to not have any for the next four years, And if the fates are kind we'll be ordinary college students, whose friends have unusual lives. Of course I seriously doubt that is going to happen.
