16. Debrief

Annabeth's POV

"Hi Piper," I say when I enter our apartment. She's sitting with Percy, looking at something on his phone, "how was your trip?"

"Not bad. There was a bit of turbulence but nothing serious."

"Did you annoy any of the Gods recently?"

"Not really, I think it was just random this time. And the meeting went well which was nice, I was a bit worried."

"What meeting?" I ask as I plop down next to Percy and give him a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Tony Stark wanted to know if I was available to talk about how growing up famous affected me."

I stare at her but she doesn't seem to understand the real reason. Why should she after all, she hasn't been here the whole time. "The Avengers have been asking questions about our parents."

"You mean, them?" she asks, thankfully not saying anything too suspicious. After all, if they are spying on us we can't reveal our world.

"Yep. And to make my week even better I had to work with S-man."

She winces. "I am so sorry."

"Yeah. but what about you guys?"

She takes the hint. "Pretty good. Jason's been super busy of course. Reyna wants me to report back on how Nico's doing."

"Please tell me she isn't coming out."

"Not unless something's really wrong, she's busy. After the whole Octavian thing her camp is in a bit of a mess and Frank doesn't have much experience. Besides, he's had a bit of trouble getting everyone to listen to him. They listened to Percy and Jason but Jason's too busy to go back to that and you've got Percy of course. Besides, Jason put that part of his life behind him."

"Does she need help?" Percy asks reluctantly. We'll go if we have to, but we were promised a year and we're tired.

"Reyna wouldn't ask for help, but she says she's okay. However, as far as I can see they're handling it, it's just hard."

"Good."

Piper looks around. "I'm guessing there's a camera in here, but is there anywhere we can go for real privacy?"

"The bedroom. Girl talk or bring Percy?"

"Bring him," she says and stands up, "I feel like he could have some useful input to the conversation."

"So what has he been asking about?" She asks once we're alone.

"Well two of them, Steve and Bucky, the two from the past know about who our parents are. Nico got permission to tell them when he was here before, and failed to tell anyone about it. However the others have been asking questions about our parents. We talked to Nico and it appears they asked him questions the first time he was here. I've been studying it to figure out the best way to throw them off, and I think they think we're involved with HYDRA."

"That's the secret organization from the second world war right?"

"Yeah. Their leader was a Son of Hades, and he wanted to make himself a god without the council. He failed of course, but he also made some pretty messed up weapons. Although they do work against monsters, camp doesn't really use them, they're pretty disturbing. Hades actually disowned him but was too busy to actually kill him, and the weapons killed the monsters that were sent."

"He sounds pretty dangerous." she says thoughtfully.

"Yeah. I actually read somewhere that Hades trained him personally, but it wasn't verified. Considering the claim, I don't think it was true."
