Aaron Hotchner sighed when he got off the phone and put it inside his suit jacket. Morgan, who had been waiting, shifted in anticipation from where he was leaning against the opposite wall. "Well?"
"She blames herself," the older agent said. "And that she wanted to see him."
"But you said no. Understandably."
Hotch stood up straight. "She also thought that I forgot her birthday."
Morgan chuckled. "After the weeks and weeks of anticipation and constant reminders? I severely doubt that."
"Let's go." Hotch walked past Derek to the interrogation room. He opened the door, revealing the man who had killed Logan's 'uncles'. He had a faint smirk on his face as he watched Hotch and Morgan file into the room, taking the seats across from him.
"So, finally form a plan to get me talking?" Keith asked.
Morgan took out four photos, laying them in front of him. "Do you know who the men you killed were?"
Keith shrugged. "Sure. They were all ignorant, self-absorbed men who didn't care about anyone besides themselves. I did you a favor."
"The only thing you did to help us was not struggle," Hotch stepped in. "Who is your employer?"
"As nice as you guys seem, that information is classified. You're F.B.I. agents, right? So classified is a word you use often." Keith leaned back, sighing. "I'd really like to be alone, now."
Snarling, Morgan slammed his hands on the table. "Listen here, you scumbag. If you don't tell us who paid you to kill those men, I'll let you rot in jail until you die."
Keith leaned forward. "Good. Doesn't sound too bad to me."
Hotch put a hand on Morgan's shoulder. He glanced at the door. Morgan let out a deep breath, glaring at Keith one last time (to which he received a smirk), and left the room with Hotch. Once outside of the room, Derek ran his hands through his non-existent hair in frustration.
"When you lose your calm, you're giving him the satisfaction that he won," Hotch said.
"I know, I know. I just hate knowing that Logan is suffering because of what this guy did," he sighed. "She doesn't deserve this."
"Maybe, but we don't have control over that kind of stuff. We just have to learn to live with it." Hotch crossed his arms. "I'm beginning to wonder if putting Logan into school is really a good idea for her."
Morgan raised his eyebrows. "She'd hate you for that, you know."
Hotch let out a deep breath. "Yeah, I know. I just want to do what's best for her."
After a few minutes of them men thinking, Morgan put his hand on Hotch's shoulder. "I'm not saying you shouldn't think about what's best for her, but maybe you should think about what would make her happier."
Hotch was about to thank Morgan for the advice, when movement from inside the interrogation room caught both of their attention. Keith seemed to be choking on something, even though he had a crazed grin on his face. The two agents rushed into the room, hurrying to save the man. He was the only one with answers to the man who hired him, and to the mysterious man who called Logan.
With an annoyed groan, Morgan expressed his frustration when Keith stopped moving entirely. Hotch rubbed his forehead, defeated. He didn't want to admit it, but whoever this guy was, it didn't seem like he was done. And whoever he was, he was doing it for Logan.
Logan was just a 17-year-old who wanted nothing to just live her life in peace without anyone trying to kill or kidnap her. Both of those things had already been attempted on her, and she didn't appreciate it. All she really wanted was to be with her dad, without any complications. She had no idea how hard that would actually be.
