Logan was getting sick of being kidnapped. It had already happened to her twice, and Logan had already gotten tired of the same thing. A death threat, followed by blackness, and then dizziness and blurry vision while she woke up.
The teenager couldn't tell much about her surroundings. She knew that she was somewhere dark that was used to store things. There were boxes stacked up everywhere, the only source of light coming from a weak lightbulb on the ceiling a few yards away from Logan.
The girl was tied to a chair, thick ropes used for her bondage. A cloth was hung around her neck loosely, probably to be used as a gag. Logan immediately began searching for something to help her escape.
"You're not going to get out of here, missy."
Logan's gaze snapped up to look at a man standing right in front of the lightbulb. He had a hood that covered his face. He looked strong and confident from the way he stood, with his arms crossed over his chest.
"Why am I here? Is it because of my dad?"
The man burst out laughing. "Dad? I'm guessing you haven't done a DNA test yet to confirm that, have you?"
Logan gulped. "What do you know?"
"Everything. I know everything about you, who you are, about your past, your present, and I'm going to control your future."
Looking away, Logan rolled her eyes. "Oh, you're one of those people. Oh, I control whether you live or die, hahahaha. You know, cue the evil laugh and such. Seriously, there are too many people like you. It's old. Just give up."
"Ignorant girl!" the man shouted. "You know nothing yet. But you will, in time." He tried to calm down himself as he turned around slowly, leaving Logan alone.
"Who are you!" screamed Logan, struggling against her bonds. "Let me go!"
~~~
It was a few hours after the encounter when the man came back. Logan somehow fell asleep, despite the dangerous situation. He kneeled down in front of her, splashing water on her face. Logan sputtered awake, glaring down at the man.
"What do you want?" she rasped.
"I came to let you know that your supposed 'father' was just called off to California. He won't know you're missing until he comes back home." The hood still obscured his face, but Logan knew that he was grinning.
Logan blinked a few times, trying to clear her vision. "Okay, uh, good for you? And why did you call him my supposed father? With father in finger quotes?"
The man stood up, chuckling softly to himself. "So smart, yet so foolish at the same time. What do you know about me?"
"Uh, you're a stalker and a creep who thinks that kidnapping teenagers is okay? You're easily angered and these knots are surprisingly tight, so you've had practice." Logan stared at him. "How well did I do?"
The man let out a breath. "Well, I'd like to say you're wrong, but you're not far off. The only thing is that you're not making any assumptions. You've lived around profilers for more than half a year, now. Tell me something about myself that isn't already obvious."
Logan frowned. "Really?" He tilted his head. "Oh, you're serious. Well, you obviously know something about me that I don't know, which means you could have been part of my past, or are very invested in it."
"Clever girl," said the man. "Let me tell you a story. A long time ago, there was a woman. A pregnant woman, to be exact. She was beautiful, and young. She had her whole life in front of her. But then it was ruined. Not by her baby, no, but by someone else."
The teenager blinked. "How is this relevant to me? Oh, sorry, that sounded really snobby."
The man quickly pulled the gag from her neck up to her mouth, shutting her up quickly. "No, you don't get to talk during this. Now, this someone who ruined the woman's life didn't know her. They took her life for their own purposes, and later disposed of her body as if she was nothing but trash. Do you know who that woman was?"
Logan raised her eyebrow, as if to say, You shut me up, I can't really reply to that. He sighed, taking the gag out of her mouth. "Thank you. Jeez, some criminals can be so dumb." The man grinded his teeth. "Right, sorry, sorry. Um, was it someone close to you? Your mom, maybe? Maybe that's why you're such a, you know, a lunatic?"
"No!" the man yelled, slamming his fist on a table next to him. "You should know how to make an inference by now you dimwitted girl!"
"First of all, I'm 17, you can't expect me to be able to know something a 30-year-old would struggle to figure out. Secondly, don't call me dimwitted or a girl anymore. It's rude and unflattering."
The man stuffed her mouth with the gag again. "I do not want to hear anything else from you. But, to answer the question that you couldn't, that woman was Molly Star. Your mother."
Logan's forehead creased as she pondered this. Aunt Patty told me that my mom died from giving birth. Why would she lie about that? And how does this guy know more about that than my mother's own sister?
"Of course, when a victim is found, it is counted as a shame and everyone moves on. They aren't remembered because there are so many of them. Nothing special about a dead girl, right?" Thick venom was laced in the man's voice. "But you must be wondering how I know this. Let me tell you, have you ever wondered if Agent Hotchner is actually your father?"
Of course the thought popped into Logan's mind a few times since meeting Hotch, but he had never really denied it. Now that she thought about it, he had never actually confirmed that he was her dad, either. Logan cursed internally. Stop letting this guy get into your mind!
"I still don't want to hear you talk, so I will answer it. I know you've wondered," the man said. "So I'll let you in on a little secret. Aaron Hotchner is not your father."
Logan stared at him, bewildered. She wanted to scream at him that he was lying, kick him and run away as far as possible. But it didn't look like that was going to happen any time soon.
The man's hands went up and he took his hood off. He had black hair and an impatient look on his face. In a way, he looked similar to Hotch.
"Logan, I am your father."
