We had been walking through the jungle for a few days, and still haven't spotted the plant that would save Ripred and save all the gnawers.
"Are we sure this plant lives in the Jungle?" I ask.
"Yes, it said in the prophecy 'the cure lies in the Jungle,'" I sighed. Who knew how large the Jungle was, who knew how long it would take us to find the damn plant. I took a deep breath through my nose. I instantly caught an intoxicating sweet smell.
"Do you smell that?" Luxa took in a whiff of the air.
"Yeah, it smells sweet,"
"'Beware of the intoxicating smell,'" She jumped with excitement.
"Gregor, it's the plant! We need to follow the smell!" She ran, following the sweet smell. She disappeared into the thick foliage. I quickly ran after her.
The Jungle was even more mysterious off the dirt path. It was still illuminated by the streams that crisscrossed the jungle terrain. I saw a blur of green in my peripheral vision, but I was only focused on Luxa. She stopped, and had her eyes fixed on something. I slowed to a stop, and looked at the thing she was so fixed on. It was high in the trees and a vibrant lime. A snake. It had it's fangs bared and was hissing. Guessing by it's vibrant color it was most likely poisonous.
"We need to step slowly away," I whispered to Luxa. She nodded her head, never tearing her eye from the large reptile, hanging from the canopy. I took a step back, slowly and stepped on a dried vine. It made a satisfying crunch, and the snake focused on me. Then it launched itself at me.
