Ch.8--Ricos Point of view--

Two days had passed since Connie was murdered. Her husband was still staying in the motel but nobody had seen him since we went back into his room.

He was ,supposedly, going back to their home in a couple of days for the funeral, but nobody really knew.

I was cooking breakfast, Damian was still sleeping, and Erwin and Rafael were out at the store getting more food. Damian would freak out if he knew they had left together but I didn't want to leave him alone here. Look at what happened to Connie when her husband left. Or that old man.

I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I knew he had been killed and I could have prevented it.

"Hey," speaking of the devil, Damian walked into the kitchen stretching. I gave him a smile and continued scrambling the eggs.

He shifted on his feet,"so.....where are the other two?"

"The store."

He froze and looked at me,"why didn't you go with them?" I tried to act casual,"I didn't want to leave you here, and anyway they have each other."

He looked pissed off,"I would rather you be with them than be here with me."

Turning off the stove, I looked him dead in the eye,"everybody that has been killed was killed in the motel. They would have gotten you if I had left you." He sighed as his shoulders slumped.

Thump.

Damian and I raised our eyebrows at each other.

Thump.

Placing the plates we were holding on the counter, we went to the front of the room. Damian cautiously opened the door and lo and behold

There was a body.

"RAFAEL?" Damian leaned down and scooped up his body. Damn, no matter how small the guy looked it always surprises me when I see him lift up people bigger than him.

After placing him on the couch and checking all of his vitals, Damian wrapped up his wounds.

All I could think about was Erwin. The kid was so obvious to things that it was going to get him killed. He could be dead right now for all we knew.

No, thinking like that won't help anything. Leaning back into the chair, I closed my eyes and prayed that he was okay.

Now all we could do was wait for Rafael to wake.
