Chapter 4 of Death in room 14

While eating breakfast, Erwin proposed that we should go to the nearby arcade to get our minds off of things. Piling into my truck, we drove down the barren street.

It was a cool June morning for California, and the sky was a misty grey color. Although the scenery was beautiful, the image of the old man was plaguing my mind. I mean, how did he even get up the-

"DAMIAN!" Erwin shouted, knocking me out of my thoughts. Panicked, i thought i was about to crash into something when i realized that there wasn't a car in sight.

"What?" I sighed, frustrated that he did that for no apparent. Erwin shrugged, "You weren't listening to us."

I gave them a deadpanned look. "So your best idea was to shout in my ear?" i glared at them through the rear-view mirror. He smirked back.

"Well it was more on a whim."

"This is it," I said as we pulled into the parking lot. It seemed only halfway full, but the parking lot was kind of big. As we walked into the arcade, I saw cheese.

Cheese was everywhere.

I know how weird that sounds, but there was plastic things of cheese everywhere. They were the table centerpieces, on the tablecloth, the food all had some thing of cheese on it, heck it was even hanging from the ceiling.

I guess it wasn't called Cheesy Pizza Arcade for nothing.

After we got our tokens, we went our separate ways. Rafael went to play the Deal or no Deal game, Rico to the..........................

Wac a mole?

Shaking my head at how childish he could be, i walked with Erwin to the skeeballs.

Ever since we were little we would always compete with each other to see who could get the most points. Erwin almost always one, due to my lack of aiming skill, well skill in general.

The only time I ever beat him was when he had a broken leg and could only stand with crutches on.

How did i even get a girlfriend?

Aaaah yes, I have a girlfriend. Shes very pretty, with dirty blonde hair and sapphire eyes. Sadly, she was only an inch shorter than me,

but hey, at least shes shorter than me.

Jen was................a very interesting person though, lets just leave it at that.

~~~~~~~~~~
After playing 9 games of skeeball, and winning none, we went in search of the other two; finding them already at a table with a giant pepperoni pizza.
Really?
Rico looked up seeing us and grinned, waving us over. They were talking to a young couple, probably in their mid- twenties. Sitting next to Rafael, i looked at the couple and gave a slight smile.
The woman gave a 20 watt smile, while her husband just gave a small smile. She was a very short woman, not even 5'2. She had short blonde hair that framed her heart shaped face, and warm almond eyes.
Her husband was the complete opposite.
He was probably 5'8, black hair and stone-cold grey eyes. Rico, not even noticing the awkward situation, smiled at us. "Damian, this is Micheal and Connie. There staying in the same motel as us."
I was slightly shocked at that, and confused as to why they hadn't closed the motel off from the public.
We all fell into a light heart-ed conversation, and my mind was finally away from the images of the old mans death.
When we arrive back at the motel, smelling of greasy food and leather seats, it was almost midnight. As we were walking into our room, i felt the eyes of someone.
Turning my head only slightly, i caught the eye of a man at the end of the hall way. But just as soon as we made eye contact, he was gone.
