After receiving the flower from George, Clay opened his wallet, placing the blue inside of it. He closed the wallet tightly, making a make-shift flower press, so he could kept the gift forever. George took the lead now, practically dragging Clay by the hand.
The vibe within the building was much more exciting then the parking lot. Inside, a massive swarm of freshmen were running around. Some where crying in the arms of their parents as they made the trek into the future, and others were catching up with old friends. Contrary to popular belief, this college wasn't just for the medical profession, it was a large institution, focusing on expanding the horizons of those who chose the path of science, mainly biology.
George instinctively clung onto Clay's side, clinging to him like a baby koala. The two boys made their way through the bussling crowd. They needed to get to the front desk to get George's dorm keys and papers, then they'd move him in and spend the rest of the day together.
They stood in line for awhile, until they approached the lady at the front desk. She could not have been much older than George. Her hair, quite frankly, looked like gay cotton candy. It was so poufy, almost remienset of sheep's wool, and dyed rainbow, which George could now see with his brand new glasses.
"Hi!" She chirped happily as she dug through from papers. "My name is Carly Puffy, and I'm the head of the student body here! But most people call me Captain Puffy."
"Then hello Captain Puffy." George returned the greeting. "For George Founders."
"Okay." She turned to Clay. "And you?"
"Oh no, I'm not a student here." Clay shook his head. "I'm just his emotional support boyfriend."
Captain Puffy grin only grew brighter at this statement. "You follow him around like a baby duckling, huh?" She giggled as she started to dig through the paperwork on her desk.
"Well he's my baby." Clay cooed as he draped his arms over George's shoulders. He leaned his head forward and placed a kiss on George's cheek. Clay could feel George's face heat up.
Carly giggled. "That's cute." She finally pulled out a stack of papers that were held together by a clip. "Alright George. This is your schedule for classes, a map, rules and other boring stuff. Oh theres also a calendar for school events. We may all be science nerds but we still have fun." She looked over the papers for a second before handing them over.
George grabbed them and started to examine them. Six classes, all about an hour or so long. Simple enough.
Carly Puffy then picked up a set of keys and jingled them to get George's attention. "Dorm keys!" She hummed. "You will have a roommate. Any problems regarding your assigned roommate you can talk to the administrators just down the hall." She explained.
"Thank you kindly." George smiled and stepped out of line as to not hold it up. He shuffled through the papers, learning the location of his room for the next four years.
The two boyfriends decided to explore about the area surrounding the college before bringing George's stuff up. Then in the dorm, they'd hang out for the rest of the time.
After their adventure, they retrieved George's belongings, the walk to the dorm building was fairly short. It was just off the main campus. Two identical looking buildings stood tall next to each other. Separated by gender, each dorm building already had a massive of freshmen coming to and fro.
Within the building itself, the hallways were lined with boxes and general trash from the moving parties of people. There was a few lingering soul in the corridors, but nothing Clay and George couldn't weave through. On the fourth floor is where George's dorm was. They ascended the stairs, George counted the steps. Fifthteen steps on both staircases, making fourty-five in total. Finding his dorm was harder though.
Each room looked the same from the outside. On the door, metal plating had been branded with the room numbers. Soon, they came to Room 404.
As a courteous gesture, George knocked. When the room remained silent, he unlocked the door and stepped inside. It smelled heavily of cleaning product. Bleach and a lemony-scented fragrance lingered in the air. Guess they sanitized the hell out of the rooms for the new semester. Good. George liked the clean.
"Fancy." Clay chuckled as he dragged George's suitcase into the room.
"This room alone is bigger than my living room..." George grumbled pitifully as he followed Clay into the dorm. It reminded George of a hotel room. The bathroom was to the left just inside the front door. There was a small kitchen and living room area to the right, and just beyond that was the large opening with two twin beds in either side.
"Which bed?" Asked Clay.
"Uhm... that one." George pointed to the one on the left of the room. Clay nodded and quite frankly chucked the suitcase onto the bed. George giggled and placed his duffle bag beside his suitcase.
Suddenly, the front door swung open with great force, damn near slamming into the wall. George jumped from the sudden aggression. He turned to the now opened door to see a boy. He was very tall and fairly built, with dark dyed green hair and a friendly smile.
"Hi-" The new boy gasped. His arms were filled with stuff.
"Oh, here let me help." Clay leapt to the aid of George's assumed roommate.
"Ah, thank you." He smiled, allowing Clay to take some of his things. "So which one of you is my roommate?" He asked.
"That'd be me. I'm George Founders." George introduced himself. "That's my boyfriend Clay." It made George so happy everytime he introduced Clay as his boyfriend. Like damn. That boy was really his.
"Nice too meet you. I'm Sam. Sam Awes." Sam smiled, throwing his stuff on the unclaimed bed. "But my friends call me Awesome. Get it? Awe-Sam?"
Clay chuckled. "Clever."
"So what are you majoring in?" Sam asked.
"Medical science, I'm here on a full ride." George and Clay took a seat on George's bed. At least Sam was friendly, maybe they could skip the awkward part of their friendship.
"Oh that's cool. I'm here for bioengineering. Also a full ride." Sam smiled brightly. "I have more stuff in my car, so I'll be back in a sec." Sam said as he started to excuse himself.
"Oh. George my ride is here." Clay looked up from his phone. You could almost hear George's heart shatter.
"Oh... o-okay." George sighed.
"Sam, I'll walk out with you." Clay said. Sam nodded and walked out, leaving the boyfriends to say their goodbyes.
"Call me when your home safe, okay?" George threw himself onto Clay, hugging him tightly.
"I will baby." Clay promised, kissing George's head.
"I dont wanna say goodbye..."
Clay buried his nose into George's hair. "I know... me neither.... but hey, listen-" Clay cupped George's face and looked him in the eyes. "I'm so proud of you. You'll be amazing I just know it. And I'm always a phone call away."
And then they kissed. It was a while before either pulled away. Clay got up to leave when George grabbed his hand.
"Hey, I love you Clay." He smiles through blurry eyes.
Clay smiled. He drew George's hand up to his mouth and kissed the knuckles one last time. "I love you too."
And that's when Clay left. The room became too hollow, too quite. A few minutes alone, George rose to his feet and walked towards the window. The paine of glass overlooked to main parking lot.
After a moment, the figure of Sam and Clay walked out from the building. He watched as the two boys exchanged a few words and what looked like their cell numbers. George saw Sam walked away but Clay remained. Clay looked up towards the window where George stood. George could see the sorrowful smile even from here. Clay made a gesture of blowing a kiss towards George's perch.
With a quivering lip George pretending to catch the kiss, then he placed the imaginary kiss to his lips. George blew a kiss back and Clay caught it.
