July 4th (65 days left of Summer)
It had been about 2 weeks since Dixie and Noah's first date, and they had been hanging out fairly often. Dixie figured out a way to convince Addison to invite Noah to hang out with them more often. They had gone to the movies, the mall, and out to lunch a few times. As far as they could tell, no one was suspicious of their secret relationship. Even if they weren't technically in a relationship.
The 4th of July was a holiday the Beck's and D'Amelio's very much looked forward to. They always got together for a pool party. They'd barbeque, swim, and release lots of fireworks. Dixie, Charli, Noah, and Addison always loved the 4th of July as kids, because it was a time for all of them to hang out. As they got older it became the only time they could really all hang out together.
This year, they were getting together at Noah and Addison's. There was a canopy set up outside with 2 tables underneath. Mr. Beck had started barbequing some burgers and hot dogs. And there were floats, towels, and sunscreen set out by the pool.
"I'll get it!" Addison runs to the door and flings it open. "Happy 4th of July!" Addison grabs Dixie, then Charli, and wraps them up in hugs. 'Happy 4th of July to You!" yells Dixie. Marc and Heidi head out to the backyard where Noah and his parents are, while Dixie and Chari follow Addison to the bathroom. They all take off their cover-ups and head to the kitchen to grab some drinks.
"Addi let's go jump in the pool!" Charli nags. Addison laughs, "Jeez okay Char I'm coming! Hey, Dix get us some waters." They run outside and Dixie hears splashing followed by a scream. "Wow," she laughs to herself. She opens the fridge and grabs three bottles of water and a sprite. She closes the door and turns to see Noah had crept up on her. He kisses her and she kisses back before pulling away to make sure no one saw.
"Noah!" She giggles. "What! Everybody is outside!" She shakes her head and smirks. She giggles, "You're adorable" and gives him a peck. Dixie hops up onto the island facing Noah. he leans against the opposite counter and puts his hand on her thigh. "Are you excited for the fireworks?" Dixie smiles, "So excited!" He smiles at her, "I wanted to ask you something-" Charli opens the sliding door and shouts for them to come outside (She couldn't see them, as the kitchen was around the corner) so they walk outside to the others.
7:00 pm
It had been a few hours. they had all gone into the pool, the parents only lounging while the others played games with each other. The dads would barbeque while the moms sat under the canopy and the kids ran in the grass.
"Meat's ready!" Shouted Marc as he placed it on the folding tables. Everyone ran to the canopy and grabbed their food. There were burgers, hotdogs, chips, and salsa, salads (both potato and regular) They all filled their plates and took their seats.
They all dig into the food and talk about how their summers have been so far. They made lots of jokes with each other, and Addison hadn't stopped smiling. Everyone was fully engaged in conversation when Dixie dropped her hand to her sides and accidentally brushed Noah's hand. She quickly picked up her hand. She wanted so desperately to be able to hold his hand in front of the others. She turned to him and met his eyes, she could tell he was thinking the same thing. She smiled at him with sadness in her eyes and he did the same back.
Addison interrupts her thoughts, "So are we doing fireworks soon!" Mr. Beck looks at his watch, "Sure, It's getting dark so we'll go set up!" The parents head to the front street and start setting up the fireworks while Charli and Addison went inside to grab blankets and sweatshirts. Dixie started to walk inside before Noah pulled her to the side yard.
Noah grabs Dixie's hands and looks into her eyes, "Hey, so remember in the kitchen when I said I needed to ask you something." "Oh yeah, what's up?" Noah takes a deep breath, "I know we've only been going out for a couple of weeks, but I mean we've known each other for years. I really like being around you. So," Dixie smiles to herself. Oh my god, is he about to ask me? "Will you be my girlfriend?"
Dixie breaks into a smile but tries to hide it. "I'd love to!" Noah's nervous expression quickly melts into relief as he hears her answer. He grabs her waist and pulls her in for a kiss. She cups his face and presses her lips against his. They both smile, and continue kissing.
"Noah!" They let go and quickly slide away from each other right before Mrs. Beck comes around the corner, "The fireworks are ready!" They smile at her and she walks away. They turn to each other and brightly smile. As dixie starts to walk back she shivers and Noah takes off his hoodie and hands it to her.

"Dixie! Over here!" Addison motions for dixie to come to sit on the folded chairs with her and Charli. She sits down and snuggles up to them with a blanket. Charli looks at her dad lighting the fireworks as she asks Dixie, "Why are you in Noah's sweatshirt?" "Oh, I was just cold so he gave it to me." She worries they'll ask more questions, but luckily they drop it and look at the fireworks.
An explosion of color erupts into the sky as the families stare in amazement. Noah and his dad watch from the middle of the road while the girls sit on the sidewalk, and their moms watch from the porch. Dixie looks at Noah and smiles to herself. This was turning out to be one of the best summers of her life.
