"This is insane Dixie!" "I know that Addison! And can you stop? It's not helping!" Addison sighed and slid down the bathroom wall to comfort Dixie. "Right, sorry." She rubbed Dixie's back as Dixie buried her head into Addison's shoulder. "No matter what it says, you'll be okay."

"It's gonna be positive Addi, it's gotta be." "You don't know that! All your symptoms could just be from stress or something else. If it's negative you can go to the doctor to see what's really wrong."

Dixie whispered shakily, "And if it's positive?" Addison squeezed her, "Then you have me, Noah, and everyone else here to help you. Like I said, everything will be fine."

Addisons words did help to reassure Dixie, but not well enough. Her mind was racing with endless thoughts and hypothetical questions. Her phone was still going off randomly with texts from Noah but she hadn't checked it.

She hated that she was ghosting him. This was the longest they had gone without talking for weeks and she knew he must have been doubting himself, which she hated. It wasn't his fault, but there was no way she could tell him what was really happening.

"Dix, you've got to take it." She sighed and slowly rose from the floor. "Okay." Addison handed her the test and stepped out of the bathroom.

Dixie took the pregnancy test and told Addison to come back inside. Addison walked into the bathroom to see her friend holding the test upside down with watery eyes. She immediately hugged Dixie and told her everything would be okay.

"Thank you, Addi..." "Okay, how long until we know?" Dixie looked over the box again. "Three minutes. If it's one line, it's negative and two lines is positive." Addison set a timer on her phone and then tried to distract Dixie, but her efforts were pointless.

They were the longest three minutes of Dixie's life. She tried answering Addison's questions but could barely think straight. She reread the box over and over, feeling as though she had forgotten what it said. One line negative, two lines positive. She felt sick to her stomach waiting for the minutes to pass.

Beep. Beep. beep. Dixie and Addison just stared at the phone, the timer loudly going off. Addison lunged for the phone and quickly turned it off. Dixie grabbed the pregnancy test, keeping it face down, and looked at Addison worryingly.

"Dix, you can do this. It's just like a bandaid." Dixie nodded her head and took a deep breath. She quickly flipped it. over and stared straight down to see how many lines there were.

One line. That's it.

Dixie's fear practically melted away and she shoved the test towards Addison. She felt herself become calmer and turned to see herself in the mirror. She looked really tired, but she was relieved she wasn't pregnant.

She was not ready to have a baby, it was not anywhere near the right time. Addison hugged her and they just stayed hugging for a few minutes. "I was trying to be supportive, but I gotta be honest. I'm so relieved you're not pregnant." Dixie let out a laugh and agreed with her.

"Thank you so much, Adds." "This is what I'm here for." They finished their warm hug and Dixie asked Addison if she could be left alone. After she left the house, Dixie laid down on her bed and stared at her phone.

She wasn't pregnant, but she still didn't want to talk to Noah. She didn't know how. She felt guilty, she knew she should tell him but she just couldn't. She couldn't even think about him without feeling sick. it wasn't like anything was really wrong, she wasn't pregnant, but she still felt so weird.

She looked down at the ring on her finger. It reminded her of him. And now, instead of bringing her calmness and security, it made her feel sad and sick.
