~ Chapter 18 ~

Doctor Quince was preparing files and everything for Betty's surgery. They indeed found a donor lung that matched Bettys blood and the surgery had to start as quick as possible.

Everyone was standing in Betty's room except for Archie and Veronica, they had no idea were they were but Cheryl called Archie and told him everything. Jughead thought Veronica was slightly exaggerating so Cheryl told him that she was probably on her period or something.

Jughead sat on a chair next to Betty's bed and stroked her hair. The breathing mask was no longer on her face but she still didn't had a lot of energy to move or do whatever.

"You're going to be okay", Jughead told her.

"I'm scared", Betty whispered.

"I know I am too but everything is gonna be okay and when you wake up all your pain will be gone", he reassured her.

"Just know I love you and I'll always love you...remember that in case that something goes wrong", Betty said.

"Nothing will go wrong I promise and this time I promise that I promise", Jughead said. Betty smiled lightly and enjoyed her boyfriends touch like it was the last time she would ever feel his fingers on her skin.

Then Doctor Quince walked in with a huge smile on her face. "Betty I have good news, I called the best surgeon from the hospital and he's on his way here", She said.

"When will he get here?" Alice asked.

"Ten minutes max", she answered, "So two nurses will come in a minute and bring you to the operation room"

"Juggie", Betty whispered with tears in her eyes.

"It's okay love", he said and kissed her head.

"Stay with me", she whispered.

"I'll be by your side when you go to sleep and when you wake okay?"

Betty nodded her head lightly and let Jughead wipe her tears away.

"You know this is a difficult pressure but the chances of it going good is 80 percent, it will also take around six hours", Margot told Betty's parents and friends, "And I will keep you update", she smiled.

A few minutes later two nurses walked in and each went to a side of Bettys bed to roll it outside. "Only one person can go with her until she's asleep", Margot said.

"Jughead you can go", Alice said.

"Huh..oh okay sure", he answered surprised as he thought Alice wanted to go.

"I would cry anyway", Alice said.

Jughead nodded and grabbed Betty's hand, "You're gonna be okay", he told her and kissed her hand.

"Baby we'll see you when you wake up, we love you", Betty's parents told her and have her a kiss before it was time for her to leave. Cheryl and Toni said something to her too and then the nurses started to push her bed towards the operating room.

Jughead was allowed to go inside too but he had to wear a face mask and some blue plastic suit over his clothes. He kneeled down next to Betty's head as the anesthesiologist started with the anesthesia, which she did with a mask on her face.

"I want to write on your cast", Betty told her boyfriend.

Jughead chuckled, "You will"

"Betty I will place this mask on your face, it'll make you tired so don't fight against that and count down from ten to one when I say so", the anesthesiologist explained.
