^^What I imagined her treehouse would look like^^

Kat's POV

When we got back to the Institute the lack of sleep was getting to me. I felt sluggish and dead on my feet. I told Izzy I was going to bed before heading to my room. Once I got to my room, I stripped my gear off and stepped into the shower. The hot water cascading down my sore body helped relieve some of the aches and pains. Long after the water ran cold, and my fingers turned to prunes, I got out of the shower. I wrapped a fluffy towel around my body and stepped back into my room. I quickly dried off my body and did my best to dry my hair. I got dressed in a tank top and a pair of yoga pants. I threw on one of my dad's sweatshirts, at least that's what my mother told me. When I wore them during my youth, the sweatshirts would drown me. I would curl my body up into the body part. I grabbed my notebook and walked to the garden on the terrace.

Over the three years, I had spent at the institute, I had made the garden my safe haven. Whenever the Shadow World would get to be too much I would come up to the treehouse Jace and I built and just relax. I snuck some pillows and blankets to make the space extra cozy. I wrote a few things down in my journal before closing my eyes and bringing one of the blankets up to my chest.

Third POV

As Katherine slept in her garden hideaway, Jace spent his night taking his anger out on his punching bag. Izzy, Alec, Clary, and Simon all used the time to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Clary was awoken from a nightmare. In her nightmare, she was tied to a chair while Magnus Bane, the High Warlock of Brooklyn, took her memories of the Shadow World. After Clary woke up she went to Jace's room to tell him about Magnus. Meanwhile, Simon had woken up and was leaving. Izzy had woken up and she noticed that Simon was leaving, so she went to tell Jace.

"Jace, I need you," Izzy said, busting into Jace's room. "The mundie's leaving."

"Simon? He can't leave," Clary said moving from her position on the couch.

"He can and he is. Unless you wanna tie him down and restrain him?"

Clary scoffed. "I have to stop him." She ran out of the room to stop Simon.

"Izzy, go wake Kat, Alec, and Hodge," Jace said, moving to follow Clary. "We might have a lead on the Mortal Cup. How can one mundane be such a pain in my ass?"

Jace and Clary chased after Simon. Words were exchanged and lines were drawn. Clary chose to stay at the institute while Simon left to protect his family. Both Simon and Clary wanted everything to go back to the way things were but it was impossible. Simon stormed out, completely ignoring Clary's calls to come back. She walked back to Jace and the two of them waited for the rest to get to the conference table in the middle of the war room.

"Jace," Izzy said, panicking. "Kat's not in her room and I've looked everywhere."

Jace signed, knowing exactly where she would be. "I know where she is. Get started and we'll meet you in a few minutes."

Kat's POV

When I was conscious of the real world once more I heard a ding. Soft footsteps sounded and they grew progressively louder. I peeked my head down the ladder to see Jace walking towards me.

"We've got a lead on the cup," Jace said, standing at the bottom of the stairs.

"Let me guess, Magnus?" I sassed while climbing down the ladder. "If you all had listened to me in the first place, Clary would already have her memories. She did always have to do things the hard way."

The two of us walked over to the elevator and rode it down to the first floor. Thankfully he hadn't missed too much of the meeting. They were just wrapping up Magnus's past.
