*Dress in dream*

Kat's POV

*Dream*

I found myself standing among the clouds. I looked down and I could see the top of the Institute. As I was looking, the scene below started to change. The image faded and was replaced with murky water. I studied my reflection. My hair had turned a shade lighter, my yoga pants were replaced with a white dress, and two gorgeous wings protruded from the junction between my shoulder blades.

"You look magnificent," a deep and unfamiliar voice said behind me.

I turned around to see, "daddy?" I whispered, astonished.

He opened his arms and I ran into them just as I did when I was a child. He wrapped one arm around my waist and the other found its way to the back of my head, fingers threaded in my hair. "I'm sorry we had to meet like this. I didn't know another way to contact you."

"I have so many questions-"

"And all of them will be answered in due time."

"But what does any of this even mean?"

"It means that you are an Angel. When you were born you didn't show any sign of becoming an Angel so your mother asked Magnus to hide this part of your life from you. She just wanted to keep you safe. When she died I went to Jocelynn and asked her if she would continue but she refused."

"She never did like me."

"I'm afraid that's my fault."

I gave him a questioning glance.

"It's a story for another time," he said. Dad opened his mouth to continue but darkness started to seep in all around us. "We don't have much time. You will visit a parallel dimension and in that dimension find your mother and me and ask us your questions."

"But how do I find you in this dimension?"

"I'll find you when you need me most. I love you."

Dad walked into the darkness and I called for him to come back. The darkness seeped under my feet and I felt myself being transported.

I was now dressed in my combat gear. Jace was holding onto my hand and we were running through the Institute.

"Come on," Jace said. "We have to hurry."

We kept running but I had no idea where we were going. Out of nowhere, seven circle members surrounded us. Together we put up a strong fight but it wasn't enough. One of the men stabbed Jace in the stomach.

"Jace! No!" I shouted. I ran to his side and held his head in my lap. "Help! Someone! Please!" I yelled, hoping that someone could save him.

"This is your future, should you continue to hunt for the truth," a dark and creepy voice said over my sobs.

"Kat, wake up," a familiar voice broke through the fog.

I opened my eyes to find Jace hovering over me. I sat up and wrapped my arms around his neck. I could tell that he was shocked because I could feel him tense up. He quickly untensed and wrapped his arms around me. "What's wrong?" he asked.

"I had a bad dream," I answered, pulling back from the hug.

"Tell me what happened." He moved to sit with his back against the headboard. I moved my pillow and rested my head, and pillow, on his lap. His fingers quickly found their way to my scalp. He began running them through my hair, waiting for me to answer.
