"I didn't expect this." Dad said.
I'm not disappointed, well maybe I am, for myself. But more than that, I feel useless. I feel ashamed. I'm the heiress of this company yet people doesn't trust me for it.
I nodded. "I understand, Dad. They're right, I don't have any experience in working for a company."
"I'll still give you a spot, hija. You're my daughter and you deserve to be part of our company." he sighed.
"You're going to make me work in a cubicle?" tumaas ang kilay ko.
Bumagsak ang balikat niya. Umirap ako, I knew it. That's even more humiliating. I studied business, okay!
I'm a businesswoman. Why are they looking down on me?
"Hija, I'll put you in a higher spot when—"
"It's okay. You don't have to put me in work, Dad. I'm still a shareholder in this company, I'm still part of this."
I watched him massaged the bridge of his nose like he was under a very huge problem.
"We talked about this, Gianna." tumingin siya sa akin. "I'll let you own your mother's house. I'll give you a high position in our company. In exchange.."
"Dad," tumawa ako. "I don't need your conditions. My decision is clear. The house and the shares are mine. Mom trusted me for it."
"You can't be a shareholder of the company." umiling siya.
"Why? Because you want to get these shares out of me? Give it to your mistress and daughter instead?"
"Because you can't!" tumayo siya. "Your sister is right. You still don't know a single thing about the company."
He agrees? What the heck?
"I don't have a sister! Dad, are you seriously looking down on me right now? You know I spend years studying because I'm the heiress of this company and I will take care of it!"
"You don't need to. Leave the company to me! I'm also the owner of this company and I deserve to have an opinion!" kumulog sa lakas ang boses niya.
"Hindi ko inaalis ang karapatan mo sa kumpanya, Dad. You're still the chairman of this company and I respect that. But you cannot replace what's written on my mother's last will."
"Your mother wasn't thinking right. She should've trusted me with all these things!"
"Talaga, Dad? Looking at you right now, I want to thanks mother for not trusting you."
"Gianna!"
"I'm your daughter, Dad. Does it look like I'm taking these away from you?"
Umiwas siya ng tingin. "Let's talk about this properly."
"You must feel great mom's no longer here. Because you can live freely with your mistress."
"Gianna Bryn, watch your mouth. I am your father!"
