Evelyn.
"Hailey I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself," I rolled my eyes at the girl, focusing back onto the TV.
Not that I enjoyed particularly what was on currently. Friends was playing.
Friends is so overrated.
Hailey shifted next to me, "Girl you kissed him! And now you're ignoring him!"
She was right, of course.
After the whole incident with Luke, in my office, I kicked him out. I avoided him the entire rest of the week, something I am sure he noticed.
My phone rang once again as I groaned. The name of the caller showed a four-letter name that I did not wish to see.
I flipped the phone over, shoving it into the couch cushion and ensuring it did not come back into my view.
That's the third time he's called me today.
As I said before, he noticed.
"Can you just answer him?" Hailey screeched, flailing to hit me. She sat on top of my lap, pushing forward to try and take the phone. I grabbed her wrists, pushing them back lightly to get her to stop hitting me.
She slugged off my lap in disappointment, almost pouting with her bottom lip pushed out.
"It's my weekend," I crossed my arms, not giving into the wide eyes, no matter how much she begged with them, "Let me have a break."
She glared at me, finally giving in and turning back to the TV.
As I said, I don't like Friends.
And I most certainly do not like Ross.
My phone rang again, muffled by the couch cushions but surely there.
The vibrations of my phone between the cushions launched a spark between us. All at once, she jumped for the phone, yanking it away from me before I could react.
Even though I was the more technically trained for this, I was sloppy around her.
I never expected her to pounce on me.
Hailey ran around the couch, answering the call before I could get up and raising it to her ear. I groaned loudly, running a hand through my hair while she spoke into my phone.
"Hi Luke, yes this is Hailey. Eve is right here," She smiled at me. I felt helpless, sticking my tongue out as she continued, "She's not ignoring you- she's just scared your lips are going to make her fall in love."
I screamed, running at her and grabbing the phone. At once, I ended the call.
Switching to messages, I angrily clicked on his name. My fingers danced across the screen, the clicking of my nails prominent as I typed.
Eve: Stop calling me.
I shoved it back into my pocket, ignoring any coming vibrations. With that, I turned back to Hailey, crossing my arms.
She sighed, pausing the TV and looking over my cross face. Her light blue eyes met my brown ones.
They reminded me of Luke's but lighter. Hers were paler, a hue of a light day.
"Why don't you accept things?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, awaiting an explanation.
"What?"
The girl shifted on the couch, the cushion matting down as she repeated herself, "You don't accept things-you don't let them in."
Hailey continued when she saw my confusion. I furrowed my eyebrows at the girl, shifting better in my seat as she continued.
