I was amazed by the thing, which is transporting us.
"Science has progressed quite a lot, and so has technology." Said Ren.
As I look through the crystal glass I saw big tubes that held strings, and things I've never imagined I would.
"Those are buildings, engineering has been keeping a fast pace since you were gone. Those, (she pointed) provide the electricity to each home and this... is a cell phone." Said Ai as she handed me a little heavy metal box?
"Don't you think you're going too fast?" asked Ren.
"Nonesense." Ai responded.
I pushed every button it had.
"Hand...phone...repeat."
"Handphone." I repeated.
"Great! It's used to communicate with other people, even if they are far away. Watch." She put the contraption in her left ear.
I jumped as sudden music started playing from nowhere.
"What is that?!" I asked.
"Ai, I'm driving, I shouldn't use my cell phone." Responded Ren, using a similar contraption in his right ear.
"OK, Father I can't call you that in front of other people I mean since you look so young." Said Ai.
"But I like that you call me father..." I responded.
"I know but for now Father (she held my hand) you should stay home until we upgrade you into this new century, then you will have to blend in on a new school Mom already enlisted you to."
For a few minutes we grew silent.
"Ah! I almost forgot Ai, the box." Said Yukine.
"Right. Here." Said Ai handing me a small box.
"What is this?"
"Open it."
They were letters; all of them from Yuki, Zero, Aido, Ichijo, Ruka, Shiki, Kain, & Rima. I couldn't stop the tears from flowing once again.
"Damn it, Yuki."
"We're home." Said Ren.
Compared to my old home this was entirely smaller but it still held Yuki and Zero's style.
"Welcome Home!" said the kids.
As we got in they both guided my through the house which seems odd to me. Also they explained some new contraptions and showed me my bedroom.
"We all decorated it for you together!" said Ai cheerfully.
"You have everything you need." Responded Ren.
I placed the small box on the bed.
"Common Ai I think we should leave him alone for a while." Ren whispered.
They both abandoned the room and left me in my sorrow. I explored my bedroom a bit further, clothes seem familiar but not what I'm used to, there's a book section were all my collection is placed, like being alive is not painful enough. There is a chess game placed on a small desk and a bouquet of blue and purple lilies in front of a mirror with a letter...
Welcome home, Kaname, I cannot bring myself to write accurately how much I love you and how I wish that you live a happy human life. If you are reading this, it means I am already gone and that you are angry at me. I know this will be hard for you to understand but, for you to live, and live comfortably would be just enough. Please let my wish come true. Do not misunderstand me it is not as though I didn't receive any happiness, I lived truly and undeniably enjoyed my life with Zero and the kids. It pains me we cannot be together but for me you living, is worth my sacrifice. Take care of Ren and Ai now that I am gone.
I love you, Yuki.
I grabbed the letter tightly as I screamed my sorrows into it. I go down to my knees and cry in front of the mirror. Oh how miserable this life will be without her, I would have been better off dead but to betray Yuki's wishes would be even more painful for me and now to my two kids.
I sob myself to sleep with the letter held tight on my chest, thinking of how much I miss her in my arms her little body and firm hair.
