The blood slowly dripped from the spear that has now claimed a position in her abdomen. The once bloodshot eyes faded to reveal her natural emerald orbs that used to spark joy into others. Now filled with tears her voice hitched as she spoke quietly, only loud enough for him to hear.
"I failed you."20 minutes earlier,
"Rodney clear the area," Tony spoke calmly not breaking eye contact with the girl through the glass. Flying around civilians guiding them away from the area.
"Tony, you sure you don't want back-up?" Cap asked standing away from him."I will keep comms open if you hear me scream, then you come in." He responded coming out of his suit walking towards the door.
"Hello dad," She greeted as he walked through the entrance.
"Katie who is with you?" He asked cautiously marking the exits in case he needed to make a quick exit.
"Marking exits, smart move," She observed walking in a circle around him. "But the only way your getting out of here is in a body bag."
"What happened to you Katrina, you used to be so sweet," He whispered looking into her eyes in hope of a glimpse of the real Katie.
"Do not call me Katrina!" She yelled throwing a glass across the room shattering above one of the corpses.
"You could have hurt someone, are these people under a spell?" Tony remarked glancing at each of the innocents.
"They're already hurt," Loki murmured coming out from within the shadows.
"Loki!" Tony screamed. "You're in on this?"
"Is this our queue?" Natasha asked from the comms. Instead of a verbal answer, she was greeted by Tony being thrown out of the window. "I guess it is."
The Avengers made their way into the coffee shop rather dramatically. Before getting ready to fight Clint and Natasha ran over to check the 'hostages.'
"I think we have a bigger problem," Clint spoke quite loudly removing his fingers from the corpse's neck and turning around. "They're dead."
In shock, the avengers all turned around to face the laughing girl.
"How could you do this? How can you hurt all these innocent people?" Steve asked, scared, not for himself, not for the team but for her. How could she live with herself knowing that she had caused all this torment? What he didn't know was that she wouldn't...
"I'm sorry," she giggled between chuckles. "It's just all your faces, they're priceless."
"Loki, how could you do this?" Thor boomed towards his brother.
"Ah well you see brother, I didn't do this" He smirked over to them. "All I did was awake the beast you wanted to hide from the world. She needs to live to her full potential."
"Katie isn't a monster," Bruce defended.
"No, not a monster, but a machine!" He yelled smiling devilishly.
"Well, shall we fight, or are we still chit-chatting?" Katie questioned growing tired of their continuous questions.
"We don't want to hurt you, we need you to fight with us, you are a valuable asse-" Steve was interrupted with Katie throwing a knife missing his shoulder by a centimetre.
"I only miss when I mean to, so is that a yes or a no?" She questioned twirling another knife in her hand.
"What are you going to do fight us with a knife?" Bucky laughed at her ridiculous weapon.
"Maybe, but maybe not." She smiled wickedly, glancing in each of the heroes eyes. Her fingers swirled with black ribbons of what seemed like magic. The chairs arose from their slumber splitting into stakes.
"This was not in the job description!" Clint yelled dodging a wooden spear.
"None of this was!" Natasha shouted leaning back to avoid the weapons.
"Mr Banner, how is this possible?" Peter asked, webbing a piece of wood to the wall.
"The alter ego must come with more special abilities than we registered." He replied as rapidly as he could. "Is this a code green?"
"Wait until the right moment big guy," Natasha responded.
"Loki stop this nonsense at once!" Thor boomed over the sound of chattering furniture.
"Oh, no brother," A wicked smile plastered on his face. "You are the ones who want to keep this marvellous creature trapped, caged like an animal. Let her live to her full potential!" He looked around the room happy at what he achieved. "It's time Katrina," He slowly whispered in her ear.
"Goodbye avengers," she mumbled the whisps swirling her fingers once again.
The fight began at once, as the avengers fought one of their own, their family. Loki, someone who would be an amazing person to help Katie stood to the side. Assessing the situation from afar, was he scared? Or was he waiting for something? Was this really the end of the avengers?
Katie stood in front of the avengers throwing the stakes made from the chairs flying across the air knocking Natasha on the ground as she groaned and rolled to the side.
"Nat's down!" Bruce yelled rushing to her side. "You ok? I need to call Dr Cho,"
"Get out of here, we don't need you hulking out," she whispered choking on air from the impact.
"OK, ok. But I'll call some people from S.H.I.E.L.D to get you out of here." He replied shakingly taking his phone out of his pocket.
"No it's ok, I'm ok," she replied standing up, "I have a job, and I'm going to finish it!"
She pulled the guns from the holsters strapped to her side she didn't shoot Katie - which was expected- instead, she lifted the guns towards the roof and created seven bullet holes. Without warning she signalled clint who shot arrows at the same place, taking the hint other avengers distracted Katie on the ground as Tony blasted the ceiling as well. Small cracks started to form as the plaster began to crack under the heavy fire, Katie shared a confused look with Loki when the ceiling collapsed on top of her.
"NOOOOOOO!" Loki screamed, summoning his helmet and sceptre. "what have you done!" He seethed.
"We did what we had to," Steve replied looking at the pile of rubble, tears threatening to spill.
"Is she..." Peter trailed off looking to the ground, "d-dead?"
"There's no way she survived that," Clint replied tears glossing over his eyes.
"Mr Stark?" Peter questioned advancing towards a stunned Tony whose eyes were brimming with tears as he stared at the pile where his daughter, only daughter, laid dead.
"You shall pay for this," Loki promised as he lifted the sceptre to impale Tony. "You killed your only daughter, for what? I'm doing you a favour."
"No," a small voice was heard from behind Tony.
"Ok, but how in the hell are you still f*cking alive!" Clint groaned glaring at Katie.
"You can't get rid of me that easily," she wickedly smirked her eyes trailing across the room to where Loki stood his sceptre shining in the light. "And you haven't even seen everything,"
With no warning, she ran at an inhuman pace behind Steve her hands clutched around his head the wisps being absorbed as his eyes flooded black and swirled around his natural ocean blue orbs before returning to their original state. The others watched with confusion and awe. While they were distracted by Steve, no one thought that he would attack them, but they were devastatingly wrong. As he turned to face them, they did not see the innocent hero they once knew, instead, they were greeted with an evil grin with a twinkle of malevolence.
"Guys, guys!" Tony yelled. "That is not Capsicle, I repeat that is NOT Capsicle!"
Who will win? Who will lose? But the real question is, Who will die?
