Mark was now at Min-ji's appointment, waiting to be called in the office. After the little incident this morning with his friends, he made it his first priority to get the heck out of there before they tease him some more. Now that's kind of messed up for him to leave Haechan behind...so he didn't. Haechan was also with them in the waiting room.

"Lee Min-ji?" A nurse called out. Mark stood up with Min-ji in his arms, "You sure you don't want to come in?" Haechan nodded, "I'll wait here." Mark walked inside the office and was met with Doyoung sitting on his stool. "Good morning, Dr. Kim," Mark spoke up and shook hands with Doyoung. "Ah, good morning Mark, Min-ji. Have a seat," Doyoung said and Mark did as he was told.

"Now I've brought a few activities for Min-ji to try. Doesn't that sound fun, Min-ji?" Doyoung tried to get Min-ji to talk. She kept her eyes occupied on the floor. Doyoung didn't take it to heart and handed a puzzle in front of her. "Do you want to do a puzzle? It's really fun! Your daddy can help you as well!" Doyoung suggested. Min-ji looked at the puzzle in her doctor's hands and slid off of Mark's lap. Doyoung placed the puzzle on the mini table and Min-ji started to attach the pieces together.

"How has she been doing?" Doyoung asked Mark as Min-ji was busy with the puzzle. "I think progress is being made. She is eating a little more, but still having trouble falling asleep," Mark replied honestly. "And when does she sleep?"

"I try to put her to bed around nine, but everytime I check on her later on in the night she's awake," Mark exclaimed. Doyoung nodded as he typed on his computer, "Does she fall sleep after that?"

"No, but I try and stay with her and she eventually does fall asleep. She's so tired so I don't understand why she forces herself to stay up," Mark said. Doyoung turned away from his computer to face Mark. "She's probably not used to being alone in her room or she is scared of being alone in her room. Either way, both those factors can play a huge role in her sleeping activity."

"Scared of what though?" Mark asked and the doctor shrugged. "It could be various things. Has she been speaking to you more?" Doyoung inquired and Mark gestured his hand, tilting from side to side. "Not that much no, but yesterday she spoke more to me. I mean it was only a few words, but it was more than before," Mark informed the doctor. "I see. Did she say anything about sleeping?"

Mark shook his head, "No. She was asking me things about piano. She seems to really like music a lot, I noticed that lately." Doyoung smiled, "Really? That's good that she has something she takes interest in. Not many children find their interests at a young age."

Min-ji tapped Mark's knee, "finish." Mark and Doyoung looked at the table with the completed puzzle. "Wow, that was fast, Min-ji. Good job!" Mark praised his daughter. "Indeed that was fast. Here, how about you match these words with their pictures?" Doyoung handed Min-ji a deck of flashcards and Min-ji went back to the table to pair the words with their corresponding picture. "A puzzle like that, usually takes children fifteen minutes to a half hour to complete, maybe even longer, but she completed it in seven minutes," Doyoung noted and Mark didn't know what to say. "Wow, that is pretty fast," was all he responded with.

Doyoung smiled and nodded his head, "Indeed.  How has she been with other people?" Mark thought for a moment and responded, "She's not really a people person. She met my friends and shied away from any physical contact from them..she'd flinch every time you reach out to her unannounced."

"I can tell that she is the reserved type. Just keep doing what you're doing and try to get her to socialize with you and your friends more often, maybe even kids her age as well. Flinching is never a good sign and it could mean that she's had some past trauma. Have you tried asking her about it?" Doyoung questioned. "No, I haven't actually. I don't know if she'd tell me though," Mark replied with a sigh. "That's okay. Well you won't know if you don't try, right? Try it sometime, but don't just bring up out of the blue. Something has to have happened before hand, so take a gentle approach," Doyoung informed the younger and Min-ji walked back over to them.

"Finished again, Min-ji?" Mark asked and the baby nodded. Doyoung looked over her matching pairs and was impressed. "You're really smart Min-ji, good job! You paired them all correctly," Doyoung praised her as she looked down. "I have a lolipop for you since you worked hard," Doyoung unwrapped the lollipop and gave it to her.

"Smart girl you have there," Doyoung giggled and was very impressed with the two year who was licking her lolipop. "She is indeed your child and when I say that I mean because of everything. Your looks, your intelligence, and of course both of your matching test results," Doyoung said in a joking manner. "I didn't doubt that she wasn't, but I'm glad it's confirmed," Mark responded and giggled.

The appointment was coming to an end. "I'm going to prescribe her some natural medicine to help her fall asleep, but before you try giving it to her, I want you to try comforting her as she falls asleep and giving her some warm milk(a/n: Jaehyun sweetie where are you). It could be that all she needs is comfort, but we don't always agree with that because children can get used to you staying with them until they fall asleep and expect it every night. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it isn't a good thing either. I don't think there will be a problem with her growing out of it though," Doyoung stated.

"She is very smart for her age. Keep doing what you're doing with her education. To get her to speak, try reading to her. Soon, she'll want to pick up a book herself and read it and when she does this, have her read it out loud. It's going to take time for her to speak, it's not that she's incapable of doing so, but something is holding her back and we need to break it out of her in the most gentle way. If she keeps going where she's going and improves with the things I'm mentioning, she may be able to skip preschooling and head straight to kindergarten. But of course, we'll see where everything takes. Not everything happens over night."

"Wow, okay. Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it. I will be trying what you have suggested," Mark answered. "Very good, her next appointment will be next month. If she isn't speaking a little more by then, we'll try something else," Doyoung said. They bid their goodbyes and Mark grabbed Min-ji's hand.
