SUMMARY: YOUNG LOVE NEVER LASTS.

The ceremony had ended, you'd been inducted as Queen, and now you'd been thoroughly rushed back to your tower, until the man- your father- who now was no longer to be referred to as King, could decide whether or not you should be moved into the castle of L'Manburg. So, as such, you were back in your lonely old bed, struggling to sleep due to the intense summer heat. You squinted at your clock from across the room, trying to make out which numbers the clock hands were on. In the midst of this, a strange sound had been erupting from just outside your tower window.

At first, it sounded like rain, but as the sound grew increasingly louder, you realized it was rocks- or to be more specific, pebbles, being thrown at your window from an unknown assailant. You opened your outward window, and looked down below, seeing the boy from before standing there, bare of his armor, holding a bundle of rocks in his hands. You leaned your torso slightly out of the window, and yelled down to him in a hushed voice, "What're you doing here! If my dad sees you he'll have your head!" Dream scuffed his shoes in the dirt, "Just come with me, I know a place where we can be alone."

You reluctantly agreed, looking to the crown that sat in a glass case on your vanity. Your father had locked the door directly outside your bedroom, so your only option was to try and climb down from the balcony atop your roof. Your shoes were slick, and trying to navigate your way down in the dark was tough, but you managed. You planted your feet on the ground, as you hit the earthy floor beneath you with a thud. You smiled at him, and dusted off your nightgown. "You actually came." He nodded, and offered his hand to you. He spoke softly, "What's a gentleman, if he wore to lie?"

You laughed lightly, and took his hand in yours, surprised by how cold his touch was. He took you through a system of paths you'd never seen before, leading you to a magnificent rose garden, one that'd been within the castle courtyard. With you by his side, he felt complete, seeing as he'd had the same connection with you that fateful night as well, he'd been enchanted with you ever since- and it was truly love at first sight. He toured you around the courtyard, making sure to be exceptionally quiet, as if either of you got caught, Dream would be dead, and you would likely be too- for disobeying your father.

So, as such, at the end of the tour, you both found yourselves positioned under a giant oak tree, one that'd been there since the very first residents had inhabited L'Manburg. You sat in Dream's lap, as he sat in the dirt below, protecting your silly white dress from being drenched in mud. Neither of you spoke, and to be honest neither of you felt the need to. You were with each other, and he got to hold you in his arms, and that's all that really mattered to him. He rested his chin against your shoulder, loosening his grip on your waist, and whispered in your ear. "Why does your father hide you away?"

You sighed, and tilted your head down, facing the ground. "He's afraid." Dream continued to question, "Afraid of what?" You swirled your index finger against Dream's hand, which was noticeably bigger than yours. "Afraid that I'ma get sick, like he and my mother have." And truth be told, you were afraid too. To your father, you were his scarlet letter, his most prized possession, but a possession that must've been kept secret nonetheless. If anything would've happened to you before your father died, he admittedly wouldn't know what to do.

Dream said nothing more, as he tried to savor the sweet silence, the sound of your two hearts beating for each other being the only thing he wished to hear. He turned your body around in his lap, making you face him, and look him directly in the eyes. His eyes were ever so enchanting, making you fall under his spell once more. You put your forehead against his, and you both closed your eyes due to the skin-to-skin contact the two of you craved, as well as the soft yet sudden impact.

You pulled away after a moment, pleading with him to take you away from everything, seeing as he was everything to you- and if you were to be sent back to your tower to be without him for more than a second, you felt as if you'd die from a broken heart. "Dream save me, I've been feeling so alone," He met your gaze, and his heart pulsed in his chest with every word you spoke. "I keep waiting for you, but you never come. I'm in love with you, I can't let you go again." His eyes beamed with excitement as he proposed a plan.

"Y/n let me take you away from here. I can protect you, forever and ever. I've been waiting for this moment since the day I met you, and we don't have to be afraid anymore. All there's left to do is run, run away with me!" You smiled, and nodded as he continued. "So what do you say?" You nodded your head further, and before you could speak, a large commotion from inside the castle caught your attention. Your father, as well as a legion of Knights, all holding torches charged towards the two of you, as your father yelled: "I told you to stay away from her!"

Guards stormed the two of you, pulling the two of you apart forcibly, as Dream tried to hold onto you by your fingers, which had been intertwined with his. You tried kicking away from the guards, screaming and pleading for them to let you go, as tears poured down your face. "No! You can't take me away from him again!" You squirmed every way you could think of, as the dragged Dream out your sight. He cried for you, screaming your name at the top of his lungs, and begging for them to let you go. You thought of the note he'd given you before, as he was pulled into the darkness, presumably to be exiled.

You screamed at the top of your lungs, so that from his far off distance, he could hear you.

"You'll be the prince, and I'll be your princess! Dream I'm not gonna live without you, so baby just say yes!"

There was no response, as you were drug back into the castle, where your father awaited you. Without Dream, you refused to continue living, and as such, you hoped that upon your arrival in the castle, he'd bring death upon you. While guards drug Dream into the forest, where he'd noticed your tower pass by within the thicket of the trees, he cried to himself, the same first words you'd ever said to him. "'Cause we were both young, when I first saw you,"
