I sit on the grass of the football field, my head resting softly on Stan's shoulder. Our fingers are intertwined between us, his thumb rubbing my knuckles softly. Everything seems so perfect in this moment.
"How are you feeling?" Stan asks softly. I lift my head to smile at him. He smiles back leans in, placing a loving kiss on my lips.
"I feel happy." I respond, my heart blooming with warmth. I have everything I want. I have a good family, I've tied my loose ends with Sydney, and I have the man I've been yearning for all my life. I couldn't ask for more.
But give and you will receive.
"Am I interrupting something?" The voice pulls our eyes away from each other and we look up to see Sydney standing there nervously, the basket in her hands.
I smile wide upon seeing the basket and beckon her to join us. "Not at all. Come sit down." She awkwardly nods and takes a seat in front of us.
"Thank you for the basket, Y/n. I really like it." I beam at her and nod.
"It's the least I can do." Sydney shakes her head, a slight frown pulling at her lips.
"No really. With how I've treated you, I don't deserve this." She gestures to the basket sitting on the ground. "But... I want to share it with you. To show that... I want to be friends." Her smile is small but it makes my heart boom.
"Thank you, Sydney." I can't help the slight quiver in my voice as she starts pulling out the chocolate that rests at the baskets floor. "I'm happy we can move on. I really want to be your friend." Her smile grows and she hands me a chocolate bar.
Yes, things couldn't be greater.
