Searching for you.
Seeking something that might
Have brought me comfort.
You weren't around
To gently squeeze my hand.
But I wasn't alone for you were nearby
Watching over me like the stars in the sky.
I cried alone in silence,
My heart was missing you.
I needed you,
To show me the way.
You weren't there
To wipe away my tears.
But still, I was comforted,
You took away my fears.
I wrapped my arms around myself
Oh, how I needed you
To hold me close
And make me smile.
You couldn't be there
To burst into laughter
But I still heard your voice,
And then nothing else mattered.
I reached out one night
Calling your name.
Praying you'd come
And things would be the same.
You said you had to leave me,
You said you couldn't stay.
But all this time you remained in my heart,
You never went away.
