"But why now Khushi, why are you telling me all this today, just before our siblings' wedding?"
Khushi knew that this question would come, and she was ready with her answer. She didn't want to hide it anymore. Shyam wasn't someone who should be taken lightly. He was dangerous and manipulative, and she knew that Arnav was the only person who could handle him.
"Because HE didn't stop"
Well, he knew that, but he wanted her to continue. He still didn't understand why she had asked Shyam to divorce his Di at the terrace and wished for her to tell him the reason herself. He needed to know from her. So he just gave her a questioning look, and that was enough for Khushi to know that she has to tell him everything, as painful as it might be.
"He cornered me on the day of the Sangeet function, but he stopped when he saw Anjali ji coming toward the pool side."
This was new for Arnav. Rage was bubbling inside him, threatening to burst out any moment, but he didn't want to interrupt her.
"I didn't tell you that day because you were so preoccupied with wining our challenge that you noticed nothing."
Ouch, that hurt!
"But today, he crossed the limit. He put a message on the mirror for me to go meet him on the terrace. I thought that the message was from you, so I went."
So, she was also waiting for him, Arnav's lips curved a little, at that. Despite everything, his heart just couldn't let this piece of information slide, and he will surely talk to her about that later. Later being the key word.
It surprised Khushi to see a small smile grace his lips, but she let it go for now. It was time to come clean. About everything!
"When I saw him on the terrace, I wanted to leave, but he held me forcefully and told me he didn't lo...o...ve Anjali ji. He told me he loved me and wanted to be with me. I was so angry and just told him to divorce Anjali ji, to free her from this marriage because she deserves someone way better and not a backstabber like him who wasn't worth even a cent of the love and care she showers on him every day"
Arnav was stunned as he realised that this was the part of the conversation that he missed. The most important part. He was so glad that Khushi came to him before he did something in anger which he might regret upon learning the truth. Khushi didn't miss the look on his face.
"Arnav, I know all this is hard to believe, but please trust me. You can also ask Amma and Bua ji, they will tell you everything. I'm sorry I decided to give HIM a second chance to mend things with Anjali ji. He doesn't deserve a chance. And it was definitely not my decision to make, but I just didn't want to cause any of you pain..."
Arnav cut her off, not wanting her to loath herself; he understood that she too was a victim. She was just an 18 year old girl, for God's sake! She was was also a victim in the evil man's wicked scheme. Heck, his entire family was a victim of Shyam's betrayal, and he had fooled them all for three whole years. None of them would have imagined, even in their wildest dreams, that their dear damaad would go behind another woman, let alone say that he didn't love his Rani Sahiba!
"Calm down Khushi, he played us all, it's not your fault. Heck, I bet you're not even the first, nor the only one he tried to woo. I had never questioned him about his many trips, Di trusted him and we were all happy as long as she was, but now, I regret blindly trusting him. I should have had him investigated before letting him marry Di."
