"Whoa, who is that?"
"You don't know? That's the tiny giant's little brother!"
"Dude for real? Wasn't the little giant short? He's not that short, how could they be related?"
"Their jumping and game skills are practic...

They had started getting into the rhythm of running every day in both the morning and the evening. At first, Kyoutani had only joined Yusei in the evening jog, but then he found out she was also running in the morning, so he joined her one day.
It wasn't like they talked while they ran, but they definitely felt closer every time they returned from a run. And then, as if being hit by a truck, it was time for Yusei's first day at a new school.
"Good morning Kentaro-kun," She greeted as they met where their properties clashed. He nodded to her, his hand holding his bag over his shoulder.
"Morning," He mumbled back for the first time that day even though they had already seen each other for the jog at 5am. "Have you been cleared yet?"
"Nah, I have a check up in a few days," She told him with a yawn. "But don't worry, I'm fit as a fiddle."
"Play as well as one too."
"Yep. Oh, shit," She cursed suddenly, pressing her back against the wall as someone walked by in front of them. Kyoutani raised an eyebrow.
"What was that?"
"Shsuh*!!!" She shushed him, eyes darting around like she was in a spy movie. (*in honor of my dear friend NarwhalNinja77 who always corrects my shush to shsuh)
"Is there a reason why you're hiding?" Kyoutani glanced in the direction the person had gone, "Was that someone you knew?"
"Yeah, I do know him," She shuddered, "shit, I should have contacted him the second I moved!"
"You gonna explain or are you gonna keep avoiding?"
"It's my manager," She grumbled. Kyoutani frowned.
"You know we aren't allowed to have jobs while in high school-"
"It's not like that!" Yusei paused, her eyebrows furrowing, "but then again, I do get paid for beating people's asses but does that even count?"
"I.." His eyes widened at the question, also befuddled by it. Did she do wrestling or something? If she was on the wrestling team, she wouldn't be able to be on the volleyball team. So where was she fighting?
"Eh, who cares. I'll call him later today and let him know I'm back," She decided, "Alright, I'm pretty sure he's long gone so let's get to school, shall we?"
"Whatever," The angry male sighed, his hands in his pockets as he followed after her like a loyal dog following his master.
Yusei was going to have a field day when she heard about his nickname.
~•~
"Name's Yusei Udai, I look forward to working with you all," Yusei introduced herself, bowing to the class. A bunch of girls were whispering and a few of the boys looked intimidated as she straightened and smirked.
"Thank you Udai-kun, please go take a seat next to Watari-kun," The teacher told her, gesturing for the person in question to raise their hand. Yusei recognized him as Seijoh's libero.
Sauntering over to the empty desk next to Watari, Yusei sat her things down and then put her butt in the chair, her attention now on the clock as she yawned. The teacher started talking, but the demon king was not paying attention.
Wait, can I still call myself that now that I'm not at Anaguma? Do I need a new nickname?
Yusei was in an inner turmoil for the rest of the morning, that is until lunch break. "YUSEI!"
"AH!" she jumped, her head whipping over to the door where someone had just called out to her. The male was panting slightly, and from his appearance, Yusei speculated that he had run all the way there. "Oh, hey there Tooru-kun."
"Hey, I'm your senpai now!" He complained, "You should treat me as such!"
"Nah, too much hassle," She smirked at him. "So, whatcha doing here?"
"Picking you up for lunch, obviously!" The setter exclaimed, "The rest of the team is waiting in the cafeteria."
"Oh, sure I guess," Yusei nodded and stood up, bringing her bento that her mother had made for her along.
"Oooooh, what do you have for lunch today?" He took notice of the box in her hand, wrapped up nicely.
"We'll see when I open it."
"So you didn't make it? Dang, I like a girl who can cook-"
"Did you just indirectly call me a girl?" Yusei asked, a dangerous glint in her eye as her tone darkened. Oikawa raised his hands in surrender.
"Well it's not like I'm wron-"
"You call me a girl in any way, shape, or form in school or anywhere else, I'll kick your ass and you won't be able to play volleyball for the rest of your senior year, got it?" She shoved him against the wall, glaring. Oikawa didn't think she was that scary, but relented with a nod.
"Okay, I won't!"
"Good," Yusei grumbled, releasing the hold on his jacket and shoving that hand into her pocket. "Now come on, I have no idea where I'm going."
"Right!" Oikawa grinned, going to wrap his arm around her shoulders. She flicked him off. "Oh come on, don't be a meanie!"
"Wow, and here I thought you were mature."
"Huh? Of course I'm mature! Why would you say otherwise?"
"You just said meanie in a childish voice. If that isn't immature I don't know what is."
"Hey! Meanie is a perfectly good insult-"
"I personally think fucktard is a pretty good one, but meanie never really caught my eye."
"What is with all my friends and their vulgarity?!" Oikawa complained as the two finally arrived at the table of volleyball players.
"I don't know, maybe it's because you deserve all of it?" Makki said before stuffing an onigiri in his mouth.
"I don't though!"
"You're an asshole so I don't see why not," Mattsun commented, agreeing with his best friend. The setter looked aghast.
"Come on guys, it's Yusei's first day and yet you're all picking on me!"
"Because you deserve it."
"Yeah."
"Oh, hey what's going on?" Iwaizumi asked, coming over to join the table.
"We're picking on Oikawa for existing," Yusei told him, giving the male a slight wave of greeting. He nodded in return.
"That's a valid point, but don't overdo it. This baby can't handle too much," He teased, bumping his best friend's side as he sat down next to him.
"This isn't fair! This is bullying, you hear me?! Bullying!"
(Hey I wanna write Oikawa more canonly but I've been around the fanon one more so the lines are blurring help-}
