1776, upon the newly pronounced America, had Started A Revolutionary War against the British Empire. The spirit stones called Amrita have been long forgotten by mankind, yokai and monsters were considered myth to most. However that didn't mean they were gone."General Washington." A soldier called out to him. "She's...here."
"Let her in." Said Washington.
The soldier by the door then opened the door to reveal a young japanese woman with long black hair with red highlights wearing an eerie black fox mask and diehard armor.
The woman merely walked into the room without saying a word.
"welcome to America," the General said.
......
" *Ahem* right, you must be Hide Dosan correct?"
The Woman nodded.
"I have heard you specialize in...the supernatural and the abnormal."
Once again Hide nodded.
"Well I have a job for someone of your experience that is if you are willing to except."
Hide nodded once more.
"Very well there have been reports of a giant beast that has the skull of a deer for a head up north with the northern tribes of Indians."
Washington placed down a map of the new country.
"The tribes claimed both American and British solider's unknowingly entered its territory and never returned." He said pointing to the northern spot to where the reports originated."
"If you take care of whatever's causing this we will be sure to reward you with-
Washington looked back to already see Hide on her way out to pursue the beast.
She then slammed the door behind her before getting on a horse and heading toward the area more then ready to hunt this Yokai that's been going by the name Wendigo.
"I don't think she's here for the coin sir." Said a solider.
"It doesn't matter I suppose, we can only hope she stops who or what is causing fear in those snowy forest's." Washington sighed. "We have more pressing matters at hand we must have more troops sent over to Concord."
*Timeskip*
Hide stopped her horse and got off at the camp of Indians, every single one looked at her in fear, she was used to this however. After all, being a shiftling means your either gonna be feared, or hated, maybe even both in some cases.
She found the chieftain and walked up to him, after giving a small bow of respect she knelt down and drew a deer skull in the snow.
The chieftain understanding what she was asking pointed toward the depths of the woods and the base of the mountain behind them.
Hide having received the information she wanted let the Indians have the horse before continuing onward.
As she continued onward she begun to see yellow crystals of various sizes growing out of the ground and trees.
"Nya! It would appear your suspicions were correct." Said Nekomata appearing over her shoulder.
"The spirit stones are beginning to manifest in this area." Hakutaku added appearing over her other shoulder.
"Fortunately it would seem neither the British nor Minutemen have discovered the power within the stones."
Hide suddenly drew her sword and sliced down a skeleton in Indian apparel.
Now the Indians called there skeleton warriors Baykok, although these yokai are just slightly stronger skeleton warriors.
Hide could see the Baykok was not alone as more came out of the bushes along with a Yoki with a big tomahawk.
She twirled her blade and entered a middle stance. The Native American monsters charged the shiftling.
She parried the first Baykok and impaled it from behind before putting down the next one with the tempest skill she learned, (it's hard to pull off tempest at least for me.)
She sliced off the skulls of 2 more and then cut down the last one with a high strong attack.
The Indian Yoki was all that's left it roared and swung its Tomahawk down on Hide, she then countered by shifting into a phantom with long red hair with black highlights.
She knocked it back up before skewering it with a small barrage of purple blades.
Shifting back to her human form she began to follow the trail of crystals and discovered the mauled corpses of the missing soldiers and Indians.
"Poor bastards." Hide thought to herself as she continued. Her relationship with humanity was so to speak, complicated. All her life humans have been afraid of her to the point they ran away or tried to kill her out of prejudice beliefs, especially a certain clan of Yokai hunters known as the Sohaya. She only known a small handful of humans that really treated her like a person, among them the only friends she ever had,Tokichiro and Mumyo.
Hide immediately focused on the task at hand not wanting to be haunted by her past.
She could suddenly hear crunching of bones.
She followed the noise to the source entering a forest clearing.
There before her stood the so called Wendigo.
"So Hungry...need more meat!" It said in a yokai like voice. It turned to face Hide.
"Your flesh shall sooth my hunger!!!"
The wendigo roared and charged hide.
She slide down under it equipping her switchglaive and spun around and planted the into its back.
The wendigo howled in pain and smacked hide into a tree the shiftling growled in pain and annoyance.
She drew out her Katana and sliced off one of the wendigo's fingers.
The wendigo attempted to crush Hide by slamming its fist down on her but she quickly strafed to the side and took off the hand.
