Taylor almost falls off the ladder when she hears Abigail ask, "Hey, so who's that model you keep getting photographed with?"

She clings to the rails, taking a second to regain her balance because falling off a 10-foot ladder would surely put $10 million down the drain. "Uh, which model? Lily?"

"No, not Lily, a different one," Abigail says while shaking her head, reaching up with a grimace to pin another yellow streamer to the wall. "She's, like, insanely tall and has a really sharp face."

"Oh," the singer mumbles, "that's Karlie."

"Ugh, I'd do anything to have those cheekbones," Abigail laughs, taking a step down from her own ladder once she realizes her pile of multi-colored streamers has run out. "Wait, wait, wait. Hold on. Did you just say 'Oh, that's Karlie' in a really broody way?"

Taylor shrugs half-heartedly, not wanting to answer. The truth is, yeah, she's been kind of broody the past few days. Or whenever Josh Kushner's dull face pops into her mind. Or whenever her phone rings and it isn't Karlie. Or whenever she sees another article claiming that Harry is planning to propose in the near future. Despite it being the holiday season or whatever, the week has been far from festive.

"I feel like I'm missing a really huge piece of a puzzle. Did something crazy happen?" Abigail curiously prods when her friend doesn't respond.

"Have I not told you anything?"

"No, because someone never calls me anymore."

Taylor hops off the ladder and leads her best friend to the nearest couch, preparing a brief rundown in her head. Now that she really mulls over it, Karlie Kloss is a walking drama magnet.

"Okay, so, Karlie and I met at that fashion show in November. And then we became really good friends and always hung out, and I may or may not have developed the stupidest crush on her–"

"HA! I knew it!" Abigail screams unexpectedly.

"What? C'mon, Abi, you've never even met her before."

"Those candids I've seen on the Internet is all the proof I need. You're whipped, Tay, it's obvious."

"Thank you for reminding me," she says dryly.

"Anytime. Please continue."

"Okay, well, Tree thought that we looked too much like a couple so now I'm stunting with a guy to block romance rumors."

Abigail blinks a few times, her mouth forming a tiny 'O' shape. "Yikes. That's a lot of information in one sentence."

"Sorry. I really should be calling you much more often."

"You think?"

They both simultaneously chuckle, and Taylor has to admit that escaping from the drama in New York and catching up with her best friend is the exact thing she needs. She hasn't even moved there yet and has already experienced enough jealousy to last a whole lifetime.
