Lightning strikes every time she moves

Karlie is returning from the depths of her closet after being forced to find her old Scrabble board when Taylor announces with a shy smile, "I placed an offer on that Tribeca apartment this morning."

The model almost drops the game on her feet, rushing up to hug her friend in excitement. "Finally!" she exclaims, squeezing her harder.

"The Scrabble board is digging into my ribs, Kar," Taylor croaks out.

"Oops, sorry," she chuckles, tossing the game onto the nearest table. "Oh my god, this is amazing! It's literally a ten minute walk from my place. This is going to be so fun."

"It's gonna take forever to haul all my stuff over here though," she says, walking towards the table and beginning to unbox Scrabble. "Like, a minimum of two months before I can officially move in."

"As long as you're living in New York, sounds perfect to me." Karlie slides in the opposite chair, cracking her knuckles for a dramatic effect. "Ready to get your ass whipped, Swift?"

"Please. We both know I'm the Scrabble God."

"Wow, getting a little bit ahead of yourself, aren't you."

"I'm sorry, do you own a Garland Elementary Spelling Bee champion t-shirt?" she counters, cocking her head. "No? I didn't think so."

Taylor really did live up to her name as the Garland Elementary Spelling Bee champion because she ended up beating Karlie by a whopping 78 points. For someone who never attended their last 2 years of high school, she has a lot of nerve bragging about her exceptional spelling skills.

"I'm pretty sure this game is rigged or something," Karlie complains, folding the board and carefully placing it back in the box.

"Sure, keep telling yourself that."

"No one's ever beaten me by that much before. I swear you made sure that every single one of my tiles were vowels."

Taylor only shrugs and gives her an innocent smile. "Whatever helps you sleep at night."

Karlie rolls her eyes and folds her hands together expectantly. "So," she starts, "what do you wanna do now?"

Taylor instantly bites her lip, signaling Karlie that something awkward is about to happen. Learned from personal experience. "Well, uh, I actually wanted to ask you something."

"Okay. Go for it."

"Right, so, there's this Christmas party I was invited to at some club on the twenty-second– called 1Oak or something weird like that– um, anyway, I just wanted to know if you wanted to go with me." Taylor sucks in a huge breath, holding it for a few seconds before quickly adding, "As my plus-one. Of course, only if you want to. I don't want to force you or anything."
