🌫Looking at it now // it all seems so simple🌫

At first, Taylor is thrilled when she discovers there's WiFi on the plane– and then she's not so thrilled when Tree tries to call her again. Andrea gives her the death glare when her finger hovers over the 'decline' button, so she's forced to accept the call and put it on speakerphone per her mom's request.

"Hi, Tree," Taylor grumbles, earning a 'be-nice-she's-your-publicist' look from Andrea.

"Good morning!" Tree chirps. "I'm assuming you're on the plane?"

"Yes, we are," Andrea answers for her in an equally cheery voice.

"Oh, hi, Andrea. I hope I'm not interrupting anything important," Tree says.

"You're fine. What do you need?" Taylor asks, hoping the annoyance in her tone isn't detectable. Is it too much to ask for some peace and quiet on a 23 hour-long plane ride?

"Just some more PR matters we need to discuss," Tree firmly says. The singer suppresses the urge to groan loudly. There's nothing she hates more than planning out PR strategies– well, other than Selena's on-again-off-again relationship with her boyfriend, but the more she lingers on that thought, the stronger the impulse is to call up Justin Bieber to tell him to piss off.

"Could this maybe wait until we land?" Taylor requests hopefully.

"No, this is crucial, Taylor. And I have a feeling you're not going to be too pleased with it," her publicist warns.

"Too pleased with what?" She shoots her mom a questioning look but all Andrea can do is purse her lips and wait for Tree's next words.

"An article was published around three A.M. last night and I'm having a lot of trouble trying to take it down, but it implies that you and Karlie have been seeing each other for the past few weeks," Tree informs them, not skipping a beat. "It didn't confirm anything, but the fact that the article even brought up the fact that you two might be more than friends is very concerning."

"Oh," the singer mumbles quietly, not entirely sure how to react. "That's not good."

"Well, are you two more than friends?" Andrea interjects.

"No, we're not!" Taylor clarifies, accidentally raising her voice in exasperation and causing her mom to flinch. How many times do people have to ask this?

"The point is," Tree cuts in, obtaining their attention, "the public is going to look at this article and think: 'Wait a second, Taylor Swift is dating a girl?' and next thing you know, the whole world assumes you're in a relationship with Karlie Kloss. That is what we don't want. I'm doing my best to remove this article from view, but too many people have seen it already."

"So what are we supposed to do?" Andrea asks. "Ignore this and see how it plays out?"

"We can go down that path, yes, but ignoring the article could easily spark even more rumors. Fans and the general public will speculate because no one has denied anything," Tree explains. Taylor lets out a heavy sigh– it's always an ongoing war between the media and her personal life. How come everyone has to know every little thing about her? Why does a person she's never met need to know about who she's dating? Does it even matter? This isn't their life, it's hers.
