○DALAYZA○

While Tom was looking at the chessboard last night, thinking about his next move, I was looking at the notebook in his lap. It had his name on it, along with his middle name, "Marvalo". An odd middle name. But I haven't forgotten that me and Tom were still playing a game. He found out one of my family secrets, I still don't know how, but If I want answer about him they must be in that diary. No not answers, secrets, plans. Anything that I can hang over his head. I just need to get close enough to steal it.

"Layza?" Sierra asks, snapping me out of my thoughts. I make a humming nose, still not looking at her.

"Is this dress alright?" She asks worridly. I turn around, amazed by the obsidian dress hanging off her body. It reaches to her knees, with little ruffles at the end. It has a low neckline, where she was wearing a black choker and matching diamond earrings.

"You look so hot!" I gasp, running over to her and helping her wrap her hair in a tight bun. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

"What will you be wearing?" She asks curiously, tilting her head to the side. I remember the dress mother sent me. I run to the bathroom, putting it on. The dress is black, hanging off my shoulders. It has a thin ribbon, with a poofy bottom decorated with black stars.

I step out of the bathroom, spinning in a circle, giggling at Sierra's gasps

I step out of the bathroom, spinning in a circle, giggling at Sierra's gasps.

"C'mon we gotta go!" I complain, quickly grabbing my black flats. I absolutely hate heels, mostly because I have no idea how to walk in them. We head to Slughorn's location that was written on the envelope, walking through the doors. The classic music immediately fills my ears, the smell of chocolate enters my nose. Slughorn is chatting with Tom on the other side of the room. Tom wears a black suit, his curly hair combed rather nicely. Behind him at a table sits Luis, Rowen, Xavier, and Adrian. Xavier is the one that surprises me the most, it's weird to see him with his curly hair neatly brushed. Rowen stands up when he sees us enter, and takes Sierra's hand and kisses her knuckles. She blushes almost as red as her hair, sitting down with the rest. I follow them sitting down by Adrian and an empty seat, which I'm guessing is Tom's.

"You ladies look especially lovely." Rowen says, his gaze still on Sierra. She giggles, and Luis hands me a drink from across the table. I gladly take it, sipping at it slowly trying to figure out a way to get Tom's diary. I glance at him, who is still smiling and talking with Slughorn. I can see through his smile though, one look into his eyes and you could see that he is completely done with the conversation. I then glance at Adrian, who is talking with Xavier. I put the glass down, warily putting a hand on his thigh. He stiffens, continuing his conversation. I continuing sipping my drink, observing my surroundings. Three Ravenclaws on the other side of the room, one hufflepuff and one gryffindor on the dance floor, dancing together. I table of sweets and drinks, where Tom and Slughorn now stand. Five chandeliers illuminate the room, the crystals gleaming off the light. A slow song starts to play, and Rowen asks Sierra to dance. She accepts, shooting a quick smile towards me. One of the ravenclaw asks the other to dance, leaving the third ravenclaw behind. Xavier then stands, walking over to the distressed ravenclaw. She wears a sapphire blue gown, going all the way down to the floor. He asks her to dance, which she blushes and nods. Luis then whispers something into Adrian's ear, which he nods at and turns to me.

"Dalayza, would you like to dance with me?" He flashes me a smile which I return.

"Why not?" I answer, both of us ignoring the fact that we argue almost everyday. He holds out his arm, which I take. We walk to the dance floor, meeting in the middle. He takes my hand, and putting his other hand around my waist. I set a hand on his broad shoulder, connecting my hand with his. I regret not wearing heels, I have to stand on my tip toes to meet his eye level. His green eyes stare at my brown eyes in silence. The others dance around us, and I catch a glimpse of Tom and Luis both looking at me. I bring Adrian closer, staring straight into Tom's eyes.

"You look good in a suit." I whisper into his ear, which he chuckles at.

"Really?"

"Really." I answer, tapping my hand on his shoulder, gliding my fingers down his arm. I press onto him, glad that we are blocked off from Slughorn.

"Tom is lucky to have a guy like you to help him." I praise. "He must tell you all his secrets."

"I'm not that important." He smirks, his eyes gazing at my lips for a split second. I don't miss the gesture though, and lean closer into him.

"No? I'd say you're pretty special." I coax, I just need one little thing. One little secret to slip out.

"He seems to favor Xavier more." He says, looking deep into my brown eyes. There it is, I'm looking at the wrong person. He starts to lean in, and I slip under his arms. He turns around, his eyes wide.

"Thank you." I say in a sing-song voice. He grabs my arm, pulling me back infront of him.

"Wait-what?" He asks, his thick brows angling down.

"You've been tricked." I say with a smirk while he gaped his mouth open.

"Y-you!"

"Tut, tut, tut." I click my tongue, pouting with sad eyes. "It's better to be awakened by a painful truth than lulled to sleep by a seductive lie."

"Your a monster." He spits bitterly, letting go of my arm. A hollow laugh leaves my lips.

"Better a monster than an arrogant god." Is all I say before strutting back to the table where Tom and Luis sit. Luis sends me a questioning glance.

"I didn't want to dance anymore." I answer, sitting down in between both of them. Tom and Luis glance at Adrian, who is currently glaring at me. I smile brightly back at him. Tom shifts in his seat, eating a plump strawberry dipped in chocolate. I take some from his plate, earning me a scowl. I watch as Sierra giggles at something that Rowen said, they looked absolutely perfect together. I turn my gaze towards Xavier, my new target. He dance with the Ravenclaw, swaying to the music. I've never really talked to him, he seems pretty quiet. I roll my eyes. That makes my job so much easier. I feel a pair of my eyes on me, and I turn to see Tom staring right at me. When I look at him though, he doesn't look away. It's almost as if he's trying to read my mind. I stare back I to his eyes, as if we're some childish first years having a staring contest. He then raises his glass, brings it up to his lips, then gulping it down his throat.
