I rubbed the lamp once the sun had set and saw a rough looking Light. "Um, what happened to you?" I noticed he had scratches on his arms and ankles.
"I don't like cats..." He muttered. I stifled a laugh.
"What was that?" I smiled. "I-I couldn't hear."
"Gina!" His hands became fists. "Why are you laughing!"
"I don't know!" I laughed at his blushing face. "Besides, how did you even get scratched and all?"
"Um..." He floated in the air, pushing up his pant leg and picking at the scratches. "A spirit came by and..." He gestured to his arms and shin. "This happened."
"Was it because you didn't have a feather?"
"Gina!" His face went deep red. "I, ugh, I don't know!"
"Well, I guess you have a pet cat now." I crossed my arms with a smirk.
"It hates me!"
"So..." I brought a finger up to my chin. "What would happen if I rubbed the lamp again?" Light's eyes widened.
"No, please don't do that." I grabbed the lamp's handle. "Gina, don't-!" I rubbed the lamp and a small puff of blue smoke left it.
A meow was heard and I saw a cat float eye level to me. "Aw!" I held my hand out and the cat rubbed his head on it, purring at my touch. "You're over exaggerating; He's harmless!"
"We have different thoughts on the cat then." Light huffed and crossed his arms. The cat looked at him, his ears perking up.
"Oh, be nice." I scooped the cat from the air and cradled him in my arms. I looked up at Light and saw him looking over his shoulder at me. He quickly looked away. "Light," I walked up to him and stood beside his floating form, "don't be jealous of a little visitor." I held the cat up to his face. "See? Harmless."
"I have cuts to prove otherwise." He looked away from the cat. I sighed and put the blue animal down.
"Come on Light," I held my hand out, "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." He turned away from me and I rolled my eyes. "Are you really going to be like that?"
A small meow was heard and I looked over to find the cat floating around again. I smiled at the upside down cat, trying to stand in the air. I gently grabbed the animal's foot and helped him upright. He then floated up to Light's shoulder, suddenly flicking at his hair.
"Do you mind!" Light turned around and faced the cat. The blue animal suddenly found his cape interesting and dove for it. "Hey!" Light twisted and spun in the air, the cat beneath his cape. "Gina, do something!"
"Why are you looking at me!" I asked, putting my hands in the air. "You expect me to magically teleport the cat out of your cape?!"
"I don't know!" He tried yanking his cape off. "Just something!" I rolled my eyes and grabbed Light by the shoulders.
The cat then found his way out of the cape maze as he floated around the room, spinning in circles.
"Were you expecting that?" I asked, propping him on the floor.
"Um..." Light sighed. "Not really..." His face went deep red.
"Come on," I chuckled, "I see some new scratches on you." I went to a small cabinet and pulled out some bandages. "Is he just visiting?"
"It looks like it." Light sat on a pillow on the ground. "I guess he just doesn't like me." He began to scratch at a scabbed cut.
"Stop scratching." I began to wrap his arm. "Just leave this on for the night; I'll take it off in the morning." Light didn't say anything as he moved his cape away from the bleeding cuts. A meow came from the air and we both looked up. I heard Light huff and mutter a small sentence that I wasn't able to catch. The cat's head was titled in the air, looking at Light, his eyes big. "Come here," I lifted my arms towards the cat, "I'll give you something to do." The animal floated towards me and I gently grabbed him. "Look," I grabbed a bandage roll, "Care to unravel this?" I teased the end of the bandage in front of the cat's face. He took it and I dropped the roll, having him dive and catch it.
Soon he was prancing in the air trying to keep the roll under his paws.
"Didn't know cat whisperers were a thing." I looked over at Light and saw him admiring the cat.
"You can learn how to be one too, you know." I continued to bandage his arms. "It's not that hard. They're easily entertained."
"I can tell." He rose his bandaged arm.
"Oh please, I bet there's nothing for him to do in there." I began his other arm. "It's not the end of the world."
Once I was done with his other arm, I looked over at the cat and found him sitting with an unraveled bandage hanging from his mouth. I smiled and gently grabbed it from his mouth, pushing up Light's pant leg. Soon the blue animal yawned and stretched, curling up beside Light's leg. "Really?" He looked at the cat. "You scratch me up and then sleep beside me?"
"He likes you," I finished his one leg and went to the other, "just in a unique way."
"Unique is one way to put it." He looked at the animal. "You think this cat and your cat will get along?"
"Maybe." I lowered his pant legs. "But now you know what it's like to be with a cat."
"You think?" Light crossed his arms.
"He brought some good entertainment." I smiled. "You should give him a name..."
"That's your job." He pointed at me.
"Just because I named you, doesn't mean I name everything." I chuckled. "Well, what do you think?"
"Scratches."
"Light..." I laughed. "It does suit him I guess." Light scratched behind the cat's ear and a purr was heard. "See? He likes you."
"Okay, okay, you win." Light smiled. "He can visit more I guess."
"Now you like cats."
"Only when they're like this." He petted the blue animal. "Calm and non-threatening." He sighed and stretched. "Alright, guess it's time for sleep if Scratches is asleep." He yawned and put his hand on cat's back.
"Maybe I can use a cat to put you to sleep faster." I chuckled and went to my bed.
"Seriously?" He looked at me.
"What? I know you pass out until 2 or 3 in the morning. Maybe even later." I went to a lit lantern. "Anyway, good night." I blew out the flame.
"Good night..."
