2-Birthday Boy

Shawn woke up at the sound of his phone.

"God! who's calling this early." He groaned in his pillow.

After the ringing didn't stop, he sleepishly picked his phone up and all of his sleep seemed to vanish as he saw the number of his mother displaying on the screen.

"Mumm" He quickly picked the call and excitedly sat straight on the bed. He was still rubbing his eyes and yawning when his mother's and sister's voice hit his ear.

He heard both of them singing for him.

"Mum! Aaliyah! Oh my god." His face was flushed in happiness.

"It's your birthday..honey, you forgot?" Karen said from other side of the phone.

"I really forgot Mum, gosh!! I miss you guys so much." He said with slight pain in his voice.

"Same honey but now you're 16 year old, you're a big boy....you know you can do it without us. We all are cheering for you in Pickering, we are watching all of your shows on internet." Karen tried to build up his morale. She knew he was missing his home and the fact that he didn't stay away from his home that long was making it worse.

"Really? do you guys like it yet."

"Of course honey, you are rocking my love...."

"I love you mum... where's dad?" He asked now smiling.

"Your dad is in the lawn showering grass I guess...here talk to Aaliyah she wanted to say something." Karen handed her phone to Aaliyah.

"Hey!" She said.

"Hey little bean, what's up." He asked.

"Happy birthday bigger and taller bean." She laughed moving away from Karen to talk in privacy.

"Thank you." He laughed back. "How's your school going?"

"Everything is fine Shawn." She told him, finding a lonely part of their house. "Did you talk to Lauren?"

"No what happened?"

"She met me yesterday and was asking about you. She said you didn't pick her call."

"God!" He groaned rubbing his hand on his forehead. "I was at the rehearsals when she called me so I didn't pick up and then forgot to call her back, I'm so stupid..Was she upset?"

"I guess she was, don't worry I told her that you would be busy."

"Yeah, I'll call her today."

"Ok tell me about the shows, how's everything, Are you enjoying?" She asked excitedly.

"I don't know Aaliyah, everyone seemed to be enjoying except me..I mean I feel so weird hanging out with them coz I don't know them at all."

"You really gotta be so introvert brother, just go outside and hang out with them..they probably would think that you hate them."

"I know, I'll try..This thing is new for me but I'm getting used to this gradually."

"Good for you.." She said and Manny caught her eye, telling her to say happy birthday from him to Shawn."Dad is wishing you birthday." She told him.

"Tell him that I love and miss him so much." He replied.

"I will.."

"Okay Aaliyah take care of mum and dad..I love you, you know that right." He said smiling.
