It's been two days after we found out Derek is addicted to stabilizers and alcohol, once we told mom she did not take it well; she went to her room and cried all day. Don't get me wrong for what I'm about to say, I'm incredibly grateful for my mom but it's so screwed that I must do her job plus dad's job. Sometimes it's just too much to handle, I mean most girls my age are like going to parties or midnight drives with their friends and trying not to take those good years for granted, I wish I had that too instead of being paranoid every freaking second because I have to make sure that she takes her pills at the right hour, or that she's not trying to hurt herself or that Derek got home safely.
I have been watching Derek closely these few days so that I can be sure he's not taking any pills or alcohol. I searched through his room and I found 3 bottles of Vodka and some mood stabilizers on his bathroom drawers, I obviously took all of them and hid them in my room. His car was clean, or at least I didn't find anything suspicious.
I was in my room just going through my phone until I heard a knock in the door.
-Come in!- I called out
The door opened slowly, and Derek's tall figure appeared at my bedroom entrance.
-Hey Liv.
-Hey Derek, what are you doing here?
He observed me, like wanting to say something but not knowing how to, after 4 or 5 seconds he took some air to say something, but nothing came out.
-What's up?- I asked
-I'm going crazy.
-What are you talking about?
-The pills, Liv, I've never been this much without taking them.- He admitted as he breathed heavily.
I gazed at him speechless and he started to scratch his head and fidget his fingers.
-I can't correctly breathe Liv, my heartbeat is through the roof and my hands are shaking. Plus, I swear I'm hearing voices. - He stated with a worried tone.
-Sure, you're abstaining from them, it's normal lil' bro.- I said and went back to check my phone.
-Olivia, you're not getting it. I'm seriously going crazy.
-Maybe I don't, but you're not getting them anyway.
He sighed in anger.
-Derek, you promised me you'll try.
-Yeah, Liv. This is me trying- He scoffed.
-You should get your mind into something else.- I suggested.
-Can I go on a drive?
-Only if I go with you.
-Why can't I go by myself? Having you in my car would be such a pain in the neck.
-Because there's no way I'm letting you out alone.
-Don't you trust me? I'm trying.
-I do not trust you, not in this case.
-Then what am I supposed to do?
-You tell me, what do you want to do?
-What can I do?- He asked angrily.
-Anna is coming over, you should hang out with us.
-Why do you think it's a good idea to talk to her?
-You guys should talk. She told me she wanted to.
-Why should I? She's literally the reason I'm into drugs.- He scoffed.
