The Plant

The end?

"Oh... Uhm. Sorry to interrupt but...."
We turned around seeing the bed sheet ghost in the door opening. "...You two won!"
"Both of us?" We asked synchronised.
The ghost nodded seeming unsure of how to act on what he just saw. "You need to get up on 'stage' now"
We hurried up. On the way I noticed that some of my makeup had gotten stuck on his lips.
"Hey! Stop! We need to fix something first"
"What? But they are waiting"
I dragged him to a mirror and he laughed.
"I don't care. They would know anyway."
"Huh? That's not the point..."
"I know." He said and smiled happily as he took my hand and began to walk.
"Okay. Who cares. Let's go!" I said determined to walk through whatever comes our way.
As we entered the room, they all made way for us, staring. One by one started to notice that we held hands and seemed too happy. I could hear some of them murmur and whisper as soon as we had passed them. The ghost welcomed the winners, us, up on stage and the guitar playing vampire made a dramatic sound to make it more exciting. I squeezed his hand as we were met with all the eyes of the others. This is scary. And it's more people than my class. At least twice as many. Just standing in front of them all was enough.
He let go of my hand to get the prize. It was a lot of candies that he gathered into his pumpkin head hat. It now served as a bowl for the candies.
Afterwards the ghost whispered something in his ear. And soon after he made the whole scene bloom in different colours and shapes if flowers. Everyone seemed so amazed. And I felt so proud that I forgot my fears for a moment.
There we stood as Sally and the pumpkin king but with a different turn of event as he also could surprise everyone with his plant ability.
"Sally is finally mine!" He yelled out suddenly and looked at me. I was a bit startled by this. But as the audience laughed and cheered I realized there was no point in keeping it secret. Even the embarrassment was worth it if we could stay together like this.
